Anyone know any good horse boarding stables around San Diego, CA? I'm looking into moving from Maine to California and I was wondering if anyone knew of any nice, small boarding stables around the San Diego area? I don't really want to have to put him at a large boarding stable with too many other horses and people, he just needs a nice retirement home! Thanks for any info!

What kind of insurance for a horse boarding stable? I have a riding stable with 5 of my own horses. A friend is boarding her daughter's pony here. Board covers the bare minimum of costs and the family helps with barn work. There is a demand for boarding in our area and I have had numerous requests. What kind of insurance do I need if I want to take on boarders? Also, what kind of insurance do I need if I allow boarders to also ride my horses? Our one boarder wants to work with a trainer using my horse as she is rapidly outgrowing her pony. The daughter is 14 years old and a very fine rider. I want to make sure everyone is protected and no problems occur if someone gets hurt on my property.

what is the average monthly fee for boarding a horse at stables in Florida? am almost ready to take in 5 or 6 horses will board including daily turn-out and exercise in Florahome, FL. have one palomino mare and a palomino yearling that I am training the Parelli Natural Horsemanship way--have ridden and worked with horses for 26 years and began Parelli program a year ago-the absolute best methods I have ever witnessed-just prior to beginning Parelli with my 2year old mare, worked on a breeding farm/training farm for 2 years and all I need to know right now is what to charge folks for boarding and really good, loving care. This is truly a lifelong dream coming true-While I do not feel competent as yet to train other people and their horses-the Parelli's will get me there in another year or so--I have and love just being around horses and can certainly take excellent care of them. Am limiting myself to 6 for now so can have time for continuing my work with Parelli. Thanks
What do you look for when boarding your horse at a stable or barn? I am thinking about opening a stable to board horses, but I want to make sure I do my research well first. If you were looking for a place to board your horse, what are some things you would like? What do you look for in a boarding stable? Lockers or trunks? Sinks to wash up? I tried looking up blogs, but couldn't find what I was looking for. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Can you make profit off of a horse boarding stable? If you build from scratch, and your facilities are nice and everything, is there at all a possibility that you can make a profit? Say you charge $200 for rough and $275 for indoor stalls, I'm just giving numbers but can you make a profit? Thanks.

Thank you in advance :) I have worked around horses a little before and I know all the tack, all the grooming supplies, etc... But anything I should know or anything you want to share with me would be awesome!

How to chose a horse boarding stable? Okay so I was online looking at local horse boarding stables when all of a sudden I just fell in love with one so I went to check it out and it turns out it was not as impressing as the website made it look! Can you give me some tips and advise for finding my home away from home! Maybe even a list of what to look for in a horse boarding stable! It will be my first time ever owning a horse and I am not getting a horse for a couple of months but I can't contain myself I need to find one even though I have not even found my horse yet! The horse boarding stable I am taking lessons from is to far away to board so I can't board there!
Are the horse stables on Fort Sill available to military families for board? My husband and I just got to Sill and I noticed the stables as you're driving to the gate. Are these available for families stationed on Sill to board their horses? I can't seem to find any info online about Sill have stables. I know Ft. Lewis, where we came from, had them, and most Army posts do. Any info is appreciated! Thanks.
Horse boarding in Las Vegas? Does anyone know of some horse boarding stables in Las Vegas that have pastures and daily turn out? I am moving to Vegas in Oct. and my horse is currently pasture boarded in a 15 acre pasture with run-in shed in NC. All the stables I have found in Vegas offer a pipe corral with cover or stall with little or no turn out time. There was even a barn that had a whopping 6.5 acres and room for 25 horses! The thought of my horse being so confined disturbs me. I want him out as much as possible with a few other horses. Why is turn out time so hard to come by? I spoke with one lady about her farm and when I asked about turn out time she said "Turn out time? highly unlikely considering we are on 2 acres and don't have a pasture." How can you keep horses like that? 24/7 turn out is ideal, although being stalled at night wouldn't be quite so bad....any suggestions?
horse boarding in mn...? if anyone knows of horse boarding stables in faribault mn (or maybe closer to nfld) please share!! or any websites with that particular city! thanks:)

We've been asked to leave our horse boarding stable? We've been asked to leave our horse boarding stable within the next 15 days because the owner feels that they can no longer accomodate my young children. We've leased horses from the barn for 2 months then decided to buy one of our own. We've had her there for 2 months now...my kids are not bad kids...the barn manager just said that it's because the owners never had kids they are just so afraid one of my kids are going to get hurt and they will be sued. NOW...we do everything we are asked to do. They wear their riding helmets...they wear their boots....they just ride in a very small ring alone with no other horses in their, all they do is walk...they don't even trot. It does NOT say in my boarding contract that kids are not permitted. Now I am going crazy trying to find a new boarding stable for my horse that's close enough to my house and is within the same price range as we are paying now. Isn't this discrimination against my kids and should I sue them for my costs for getting her trailered to a new place....I have to have her coggins done again because the stable I am taking her to needs a test done within 3 months and her's was done 5 months ago. I don't want to get rich because I feel I should sue them but I do feel that since we didn't do anything wrong to be kicked out then they should be responsible for my costs of getting her moved. What do you guys think?
How to get started running a horse boarding business? I just own a 1200 square foot house with a backyard; so i dont have the facilities to board horses right now. But I want to know where I would start? Horse properties around here are expensive. So would in general be less expensive to buy a house on land then build a horse stable/arena? Do boarding centers do better if they have an indoor arena vs. an outdoor arena only? Do they do better if trails are near by? Do they do any better if you have an instructor on sight? My dream is to one day own a boarding stable with 40+ horses in it and to have people work for me there. If need be, hire an instructor to teach lessons and get some school horses. I'm 21 years old now. I do own a house but can't really afford a higher morgage right now. Any good tips would be great. Or if you want to share your story how you started in the horse business and were you are at now. Thanks!
Can someone write me up a horse boarding contract , using minnesota laws, not California? I am 16 years old and I am in the horse boarding business. I need to have a horse boarding contract that protects me and my property so i don't get sued for anything. The contract has to include the fees and monthly charges of boarding, including specialty request (grooming, excersizing, etc.) the board should be paid by check or money order. i want it to have the option of me supplying grain & hay or they supply their own. also, they supply any extra supplements. also, if their horse dies or gets sick , that i won't be held responsible, the horse owner is responsible for ALL happenings. the horse owner must be held responsible and has to pay for all damages their horse has caused. they are responsible for upkeep of horse(vet, farrier, dental) i have some more to have put in there, but there isn't enough room on this detail page, so email me @ mcgaga16@yahoo.com if you know and can help me draw up a plan, or if you already have one drawn up for your boarding stables. thanks!
How to handle horse-boarding-stable snobbs.? I board my horses and donkey at a stable where there are friendly people and people who are snobbs. Normally I ignore the snobbs, but they speak to me in a condescending tone and scoff at what I say and do. They talk to me only when I am working with my donkey foal and really it is a pain when they do this...and I think they know it....because I am trying to focus on training my foal at the time. They say "Why are you doing thaaaat" and "Well if I were you then I'd do it this way because well I've been riding forever I know this works better" I don't think I should have to explain myself to them, maybe I would talk with them if they were friendly, but they are not and I really don't like these ladies now anyway. I am not sure what to say to them and how to say it. I want things to be peaceful for me and my animals when I am at the ranch.
horse boarding stable - can i do that? ok so if i had 10 horse stalls and a storage room and tack room ect can i just rent them out or do i need a licence or somthing and have them so its all do it yorself so i don't have to do anything to other peoples horses? like they supply the food and bedding and they have to ride there horse and they have to muck out the stall and stuff and then make them sign somthing to say that if your horse gets sick or hurt its your falut and if your horse or tack gets stolen or lost it your falut and stuff like that so im not resbonsible? what else do i have to think about or get? i don't know if it matters but im live in australia, wa perth
What are the basics, recommended, for horse boarding in Minnesota? I live in Southwestern Minnesota, and board horses. I am planning out the new layout of my barn and boarding contracts. I have a small business, about 6 stalls. I live on 5 & 1/2 acres. If you are boarding a horse, please tell me what should be provided by the stable owner( grain, hay, indoor/outdoor arena, tack room..etc.) i don't have an indoor or outdoor arena. how big should tack/feed rooms be? i have been charging $140 and that includes: daily stall cleaning and fresh water (indoor and out), turn-out in the morning and turn-in in the evening, i feed them 2x a day(but the horse owners supply their own feed and hay). I have new solar, poly-tape fencing with the wood posts. Please give me tips!
whats a good price for a full service horse stable/Boarding facility? I am currently paying $375 and I am not impressed by the facilities. I am looking around and was wondering whats a good price for boarding? I don't want to pay to much, if I dint have to. *Julie... She is Full registered Percheron. I am in MD and she has a 12x12 stall, but the space inbetween the stalls isnt very wide and they only have one small arena. One wash location wich is always being used because its located at the entrance to the arena. I turn her out in the evenings when I come. I just feel I am paying to much. I found a nice feild board for $200 that is on the C&0 Conal. Plenty of trails and fields.
What expenses should I consider when operating a horse boarding facility.? I'm considering purchasing a facility and establishing a horse boarding facility in the SF Bay area. I have done some research, including reading "Horsekeeping on a small acerage", and probably have a handle on the obvious per horse expenses. What are ballpark planning numbers for utilities, insurance, maintenance, stable hand, manure removal, etc? Where can I find them?
How to start a boarding stable for horses? Other than all the legal stuff--it's going to be just a small business, and we already have a boarding agreement to use. Anyway, the farm is currently for dairy cows but the cows will be out by next year. (For a while they will be sharing the place with the horses.) I'd just like to know how to transform an old dairy barn into a great horse place. Any creative and outside-the-box ideas will be much appreciated! And thank you in advance for answers
horse boarding question? i have a 30yr old mare, that I would like to retire. She has a navicular problem in her front right hoof, so I can no longer ride her. She is very sweet and not aggressive at all. Which boarding facility sounds like a better place to bring her to: Frankfort: Private residence, horse gets its own stall and own t/o. Can access the t/o all day long. Homeowner is not there during the day (she works full time). No arena, no place to walk my horse around if I want to take her out. Board: 240.00 per month 45mins away from my house Homer Glen: Horse gets a stall, with gate and window. Homeowner does not live on property, but less than 10mins away. Horse gets t/o all day, with 14 other horses (together). Horses are fed hay outside, and come indoors for grain. Two arena's, and 12 boarders (2 other horses are homeowners horses). Stable is leased for the next 3yrs. Board 280.00 15mins from my house. Which one sounds like a better environment for a older horse? With the first property, no there is no place to walk my horse. She has per backyard fenced off from the stable. My horse is very sociable with human contact, and I am afraid with no one home during the day she will become depressed (which she has done in the past.) These are my only two options because they are the cheapest places around. My board is going up to alomst 500.00 Aug. 1, and that does not include t/o. So I have to go up almost everyday to see her. Why should my horse suffer when she can go somewhere where she can be a horse
Question about a horse boarding contract? I recently rescued a horse in december and have been keeping him at a boarding stable. He was very underweight and is slowly getting better. However, I'm having a lot of problems at the stable. My friend warned me that it wasn't a very good place, and that the ownwer was crazy.. however, it was the ONLY place with empty stalls around christmas time. So I really had no choice. I recently found a new stable that I want to move to either the last weekend of april or first weekend of may. The contract says I need to give 30 days notice- however, when people have done that in the past- she punishes the horse by skipping meals. Since I can't be there for every meal, and he's still in the process of gaining weight- I don't want to risk it. Her son cleans stalls, & lately he's been doing a POOR job. She then has the nerve to complain our horse is shedding too much. This coming from the person that puts ALL the manure in the arenas in piles. Gross. What is the worst she can do? Sue for $200? The horse came from animal control- I'm still in contact with his case worker, shes really nice. In fact, this is still an ongoing investigation, the trail hasn't even happened yet. That is a good idea, I"ll put everything in writing when I leave. I would honestly rather be sued, then risk causing anymore damage to an already fragile horse. I'll also take photos of the unclean conditions. I also forgot to mention- she's been feeding him the dried up ends of the bales of hay- and he hasn't been finishing it. I'll keep photos and records of everything. I highly doubt she'd want animal control doing a throrough surprise inspection of her property.. I did not purposely put him in this situation. He wasnt getting the care he needed at the shelter either- they really only know how to care for dogs & cats. My friend (6 years ago) told me she bought a horse from someone who wasn't paying board (at this stable), so the owner stopped feeding him. So although she had no excuse to starve an animal- I figured he'd be ok for a couple of months, since I'm good about paying on time. It was great at first, nice quiet place. I'm sure its zoned for horses, its a 5 acre property. Not sure how many though- she just added about 20 more stalls. Point is- this was always meant to be a temporary place, but I didnt think she'd have a reason to treat us this poorly. On top of it, there is a rude trainer there that keeps about 15 horses boarded- and always hogs the arenas/ wash rack. I usually end up cleaning his stall myself. I recently traded in my sports car for an FJ cruiser-so im able to drive to a more rural ranch. That was another issue.. He gets supplements- equine senior, weight builder, oil, & joint supplements. He also gets soaked beet pulp. He gets supplements- equine senior, weight builder, oil, & joint supplements. He also gets soaked beet pulp. Thanks for all the help! We are going to leave her a note this week- its very simple, just says this will be the last month he will be boarded here. I won't leave an exact date either. If I see even the slightest change for the worse in her treatment of him- we'll just leave even sooner. If she gives me any problems, I'll tell her she can speak to the animal control officer handling his case so she can inspect her property. =)
Cheap Boarding Stables? hi my parents said i could have a horse but the boarding is too much so if anyone know a good cheap stable to board your horse let me know! i live in Valparaiso, IN
What is the average cost to board a horse? We are thinking of starting a horse stable. Nothing big, just a stable with everything that is needed to keep a horse. We are just thinking, and wanted to know what the average cost of boarding a horse is? About how much to do you pay? Or someone you know? ANd the quality of the stable... that has to do with the cost of boarding, too, I suppose?

Questions: Horse Farrier, equine massage therapist, running boarding stable? I wanted to put this all in one post as to avoid making three separate posts, ha ha. I also looked throughout the message board to see if anyone posted something related to this, but could not find anything. I apologize if I have passed up a related post. I wanted to know what type of salaries horse farriers and equine massage therapists make. Also how much someone makes who owns their own barn whom boards horses, gives lessons, etc. I've been thinking about going to school for equine sports massage therapy but I would like to know if it would be a smart choice to make because I do not want to waste money on schooling for something that just ends up to be a low-paying job. Do companies/businesses(whatever) hire equine massage therapists to do hourly work for clients? Also if you could give me job suggestions and/or colleges that offer equine programs, that would be great! Thank you!

how much a month do boarding stables usually cost?? because my dad is looking at a paint horse for me, and we dont have land right now, and there are boarding stables here, so yeah. lol, could you please tell me how much it usually is a month to board a horse? i live in southern california, the high desert. i can go to the stables 4 days out of the week, and everyother week i can go 5 days. when i go, and when im done with my horse, i plan on helping out around the stable. like mucking, feeding, grooming. thank you everyone!
Riding Lessons/Horse Boarding? I'm just wondering what that lifestyle is like. I've never taken a riding lesson, or boarded my horse anywhere, so I would just like to better understand what it's like to do those kinds of things. Feel free to share stories, or vent. I'll be happy to read. xD How many of you board your horse at a stable somewhere? Are you satisfied with it? What kind of politics go on there? How much does it cost? What is included in the cost? What is included in the facilities? For riding lessons: Do you like your trainer? If you could, would you rather learn things on your own? How often do you attend? Are there certain things people do during the lesson that bugs you? What do you enjoy practicing during a lesson? What do you hate practicing?

I will be moving my horse to portland area in the future and wanted to know if anyone knew of some more affordable boarding stables near by? Price of boarding stables near Manhattan, Kansas? I am going to be applying to vet school in the fall and one of my concerns for picking a school is the board prices for my horse. Right now I am paying $330, and I know in the east it is $1000 or more, Anyone have a clue about Kansas prices? I am not looking for specific stables yet and would feel dumb calling them this far in advance. I am just looking for average prices, if anyone knows. It isn't a big deal yet- I will decide when I apply next summer, just was wondering if anyone knew.
