Arabian horse breeders/dealers in the UK? Before I go horse hunting, does anybody have suggestions for arabian breeders in the UK? They don't have to be full bred just a responsible breeder with healthy horses I can look into! Many thanks :)
Arabian horse breeder? Can anyone recomend an arabian horse breeder near bath, bristol, gloucester? Thanks.
What is the average price of a Shagya Arabian horse? And does anyone know of a breeder?
Arabian Breeders in New England? I judge horses with the FFA at my school and I wanted to see if there were any stables that bred, specifically, Arabians. We're always getting Quarter Horse, Stock Horse-types, Thoroughbred, and discipline-type-specific classes. I love Arabians and when we have states and other CDE competitions, we might have a class of Arabians to judge, so I think getting exposed to the breed in a setting such as a breeding establishment would ultimately benefit our team. Question is, what stables are within an hour's travel that breed Arabians? If you have knowledge of any Arabian breeding farms within an hour of 562 Maple St, Danvers, MA, please let me know, that'd be great!!! Thank you!
What do you think about this horse..?(Arabian)? So, this will be my first horse and I've been riding for about 2 years. But we have an EXCELLENT Arabian trainer who'd be working with me and this horse too. Here she is: http://www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=1271592 And this is what the owner also said about her: "I was wondering if you read the "blurb" on DreamHorse? It pretty much tells all.She had about 6 months training in AZ with my daughter, Jessica Bein of Bein Performance Horses.I have not been able to ride, so I had an assistant trainer from one of the Quarter Horse trainers here in Temecula, come ride her a few days a week. She is turned out daily. I have not ridden her due to health probs. She is VERY under priced. We just have to sell. She needs finishing training, but knows her leads, etc. Also, she is Breeders Sweepstakes nominated." Soo, what do you guys think?(: Yeahh, I've leased horses and dealt with some crazies. ahhah. Been in a few shows..the usual, ya know? My trainer shows Arabians..So..yeah? And Right now I'm currently riding a half-Arabian. I love him.:D
Do you know the name of this arabian mare? 10 points=best answer? This gorgeous chestnut mare is a 10 time national halter champion. Unheard of! Her first win was Arabian Breeders' Sweepstakes Yearling Filly Championship. Who is this mare? Also do you know the answer to this question? This stallion is not real, but indeed very famous. His debut began in a book, followed up later by 3 movies (spread out). Who is this horse?

What to do when a a horse you really want you cant afford? Do you think a great arabian breeder would negotiate the price and/or take monthly payments?
Please help! My Neighbor suddenly wants to be a horse breeder :/? My neighbor, who just retired, went to texas for about a month and rode an Arabian horse, who was calm as could be. Now, he is planning on getting two UNTRAINED, purebred arabian mares, and wants to breed them. He won't even ride my calm horses! He has it in his mind that its only going to be about $6,000 a year, and that each foal is going to be worth about $60,000. He's going to buy a 20 acre peice of property and breed them on it. He has NO idea how high strung arabians are, especially around novices. He's getting the mares for free, and it really scares me to think that he might go through with it. How can I talk him out of this? He's only in it for the money! Can you please provide a list of everything that needs to be done when breeding a horse, and all the costs? What are your experiences? How long had you been around horses before you bred? PLEASE help! Thank you, Me. Horse Source- Thank you! I'll try it now! They are about 13 y/o, and he is having them shipped down. He isn't planning on training them or riding them at all. To him, They're just money makers :( If he does go through with it, I guarantee I will help him as much as I can. I am getting rid of my horses in August due to lack of grass/time, so I will have SOME time to help, if he decides to train after all. Uhg.. But then again, there isn't much I can do, since I'm only 15, and my opinion doesn't matter at all...
How long does the copyright on photographs that have been published in a magazine run? Just recently I was able to purchase a collection of magazines that covered news and topics of interest for Arabian Horse breeders and owners. The magazines date from 1950 through 1959, so they're all about 50 years old. I would like to scan some of the photographs that are in the magazines and put them up on a website, but I don't want to violate copyrights. FWIW, the specific magazine (Arabian Horse News) is no longer in business, and the website is non-commercial in nature, purely informative. I would like to scan some of the photos in the magazines and post them to so people can see the horses that are pictured. Would this run afoul of copyrights on the photographs? Some of the photos have photographer credits, and were presumably taken by professional photographers, but a lot of the photographs are obviously amateur photographs, given the quality, and are uncredited. Can I make scans and post them on this website? Thanks!
I need someone who isn't trying to sell an Arabian to tell me all the good and bad points about them.? I'm in the market for an Arabian. I've been doing my research and everything, but all I can find are huge passages of flowy words written by breeders extolling the beauty and majesty of the breed. I want to be as informed as possible, so I don't end up buying an unsuitable horse. I would appreciate any info anyone can give! Thanks!
I'm looking to sell three very talented arabian horses..? Hey I'm looking to sell three extremely talented arabian horses, I have them adverstised on a few sites and have gotten interest, but is there a site that many people go to look, or would anyone be interested in them on here? I will post descriptions and if you want photos I have tons please e mail me about them! =] The Wedding Date is an extremely talented, easy going four-year-old hunter. In the 2009 show season he was shown by a 14-17 rider, winning reserve champion at region 13 in the tough equitation and garnering multiple top 5’s including winning more than his fair share of classes at class A shows. ‘Dermit’ was also shown in the three-year-old breeders futurity stakes winning $6,800. Dermit has earned a TOP TEN in the walk trot division at the 2009 youth nationals and made it all the way to the finals in the 14-17 Eq. and 13&u. Let this incredibly willing hunter take you to the top in any division. Dermit would be great for an amateur, youth or professional to show. Krewes Missle is an extremely talented HA country gelding who is very willing to do his job. In the 2008 and 2009 show season he was shown by an eight and nine year old successfully. Multiple class winner and top five’s at region 13 in both the country and equitation. Top ten in the UPHA at youth nationals and 3rd in the walk trot country this year. Reserve National Show Horse Grand Champion geldings in the amateur division. In 2009 at NSH finals he was top ten in the 14-17 UPHA challenge Cup, very easy to pattern. Calm enough for a beginner rider looking to get into shows but flashy and talented enough for someone looking for a more competitive horse. Berry Great Day is beautifully moving HA country mare. Has been extremely competitive in all divisions including winning her first walk-trot classes at class A shows to Top ten at regionals in the 13& under youth and regional top 5 in the open country. At youth Nationals in 2009 she was top ten in the UPHA challenge cup pattern class and the 13& under JTR country. She will put her whole heart into anything she does. Stands out and very talented would excell in division she is put into.
Arabian lovers- bloodlines? For you Arabian breeders/riders/lovers out there, what are your favorite bloodlines? I myself happen to like purebreds with Bey breeding (Bey Shah, Bey-el-Bey, etc) and i absolutely love finding horses with old Crabbet way back in their pedigrees So I was wondering what your favorite bloodlines are- discipline specific or not- and which bloodlines your horse is from (My horse is Aladdin bred, with Raffles, Ferseyn, and Skowronek way back in his pedigree)
How beautiful is this miniature horse (see details)? And does anyone have mini. horses? The miniature horses I've always seen look more like shaggy, smaller Shetland Ponies. They're cute, don't get me wrong but not gorgeous. I visited this farm called "Vermilyea Farms" in Columbia City, IN and was so IMPRESSED! Their miniature horses looked like teeny Arabians! Here's one of their stallions so you can see what I mean: http://www.vermilyeafarms.com/vfanalyzethis.html They do give tours for people interested in their horses, so contact them if you live not too far or are really interested in one of their horses. They are SUPER expensive (I could never afford one) but if I had the money, I would definitely buy one of those stallions! Oh, here's one of them: http://www.vermilyeafarms.com/vfanalyzethis.html SEE WHAT I MEAN? My vet's assistant raises miniature horses but like I said, they look more like smaller Shetland Ponies. What are they supposed to look like? I mean, it's hard to compare a miniature horse that looks like this: http://www.gothorsesonline.com/miniature-horse-pictures-breeders-foals/pictures/miniature-horse-0001.jpg (ALTHOUGH VERY CUTE, DON'T GET ME WRONG!) compared to these: http://www.rarebreeds.co.nz/miniaturehorse.jpg (LOVE THE COLOR) http://www.gotpetsonline.com/pictures-gallery/horse-pictures-breeders-foals/miniature-horse-pictures-breeders-foals/pictures/miniature-horse-0014.jpg AND HOW CUTE IS THIS LIL' MINI HORSE FOAL???? http://www.gothorsesonline.com/miniature-horse-pictures-breeders-foals/pictures/miniature-horse-0007.jpg SO ANYWAYS! What should a "CHAMPION" miniature horse look like? Can they look like both more of a Shetland Pony or more of like a minaiture version of an Arabian??? THANKS! And just out of curiousity, what's their tempermant like? I had a Shetland Pony and he was SO STUBBORN, LOL! I had an easier time as a 8-year-old controlling a Quarter Horse than I did him. THANKS FOR FEEDBACK, OPINONS, LINKS, AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN SHARE ABOUT MINIATURE HORSES!!!!!!!!!!

guess what/////Arabian horses needing rescue? The owner of the 30 dead horses in Alberta will receive proceeds from the sale of the surviving horses after the spca recovers their costs. Guess what--he will then be able to pay his fines. Have you ever heard anything so stupid???The breeder's name is Hinz-Schleuter Arabians. The auction is in Clyde, Alberta north of Edmonton on Thursday March 13th. They also found dead rabbits, goats and sheep as well as the 100 remaining hungry horses. Look on the internet under "horses die in Alberta" Thank you. As of today the horses in Alberta are not going to Auction but to a farm to be properly cared for until homes can be found. Thank you for your interst.
What's YOUR horse's name? What is your horse [or horses] named? What breed and what's the reason behind their name? I've had four horses total. Bandit - Appaloosa. I guess my dad named him that. Mystery - Welsh Pony Section B, white. I don't know what her registered name is, but she's a WP show champion in Texas :D The breeders gave her that name. Alias - Quarter Horse, palomino. His registered name was supposed to be Apollo's Alias after the Sun God because he was sort of a reddish tint, but his dam is not registered and the owner didn't feel like it. Sooltan - Arabian, chesnut. The only horse I have now, reg. name is EH Sooltan. The breeders gave him that name, but I assume it's a play on "Sultan", like an Arabian leader/king person. I call him Sool [soul] for short. We recently sold Mystery and Alias [against my will, but honestly it was for the better since I'm going to college this fall]. Anyway, that's mine. Your turn! Oh, and my boyfriend and me just got an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie puppy. He doesn't have a name yet, so if anyone has any suggestions...
can i ride my 4 year old arabian cross? i have a 4 year old arabian mare i want to show soon shes only green broke but does really well!!! I just want to show her in a trail class where id be by myself so i dont have to worry about her with the other horses yet. the problem is she is pretty petite and everyone thinks shes to young to ride but my vet checked and said shes fine to ride as long as its not to heavy of riding. shes 14.3 hands and just small boned but according to my vet and an arabian breeder i know shes fine to ride. but everyone thinks im being cruel for riding her so it upsets me :( what do i do? my vet said she wont be getting any bigger and i dont want to deal with this the rest of my life, how do i deal with people thinking im a bad owner when im not!! btw im 120lbs btw what age can an arabian cross start jumping, i know its not for a while (someone told me but i forgot) i thought it was like 6 or 7 but maybe im wrong.... btw ive ridden her around other horses at the fair before so i know she wont freak out
I have a few questions for Miniature Horse people? I have a few questions about showing miniature horses. In the driving class (roadster and pleasure) does the judge look at the horses movement at all? Or is the horse just judged on how "pleasureable" they are in pleasure driving and how well they show the gaits in roadster? Breeders are always saying "knee action, driving movement" but when I was reading this http://www.wcmhr.com/drivingclasses.html it didn't seem to mention that how well the horse moved was a factor. So, breeders breed for either "miniature" quarter horse type or "miniature" arabian type, right? And how do they judge the different types in halter classes? Do they just award first places to the best representative of each type if they're in the same class? Sorry if any of this is confusing. I'm just curious :)
Showing A Quarter Horse?? Opinions!? HELP? Okay I kinda aready asked this question..but it was really long before, and i was upset when I asked it..so I will simplify.lol.: I live in quarter horse country. its all AQHA shows, breeders, judges, even if its an open show...they should basically just say its for quarter horses. even in 4h theres $20,000+ quarter horses. I have an arab. I got him out a field as a 4yr. old after a shoulder injury. He was thought of as being "un-ridable" two years ago...but I worked and worked with him. Ive been through bucking fits, rears, taking off, kicking...basically everything a horse could do.lol. He still acts up...but i feel like ive accomplished alot with him, and it was a really good experience for me working with a horse from the ground up. Well even though hes still green, he does awesome pleasure n pattern classes. Anyways I NEVER get looked at because of this at shows. Ive had judges say mean comments to me, and tell me to take my "alpo horse" out of here. We can do a pattern, and then another kid does a pattern on a QH and butchers it...and gets placed over me. Sooo...heres my issue. Normally I wouldnt allow this to upset me,..it makes me want to show my arab more. BUT I really really want to be a trainer/ ride pleasure. Its my passion, its all I can see doing with my life. I already have a college im seriously considering ( im almost 17 btw) I already work at a 48 horse barn everyday doing everyrthing. Ive worked with stallions, foals, and other green horses. I know I have more experience than half these kids on there dead broke horses. BUT the kids that ride the nice quarter horses are the one that people want to train with. They go to congress and show circiut..and everyone thinks there amazing. I just feel like I will never get where I want to in riding If i cant show/place well in anything higher than 4H or local shows! :( I would love to show in big shows one day. I feel like with my riding skills I want to take it to the next level...its not gonna happen with my horse though. So what should I do? A quarter horse is the only way Im going to be able to get my name out there. but is it worth going with the crowd to win? Its not all about winning...but in reality I feel like I need the experience and credit of showing in big shows to get where I want too. I dont want to sell my arab though. He means the world to me and ive put sooooo much time into him. He does have some shoulder issues though (already at 6) and im thinking if those continue this year, I may be able to take him to a cheap barn my freinds have and get a young QH i could train. IDK im soo confussed about all of this. Its just know one take me seriously on my arab, but Im very serious about it and know I have the riding skills.EX- My friends QH was acting up at a big open show..and she asked if I could get on it and take it into horsemanship...I did and got 1st out of 25 people. The next horsemanship class it was 5 people..I took my arab...he did the pattern perfectly..i got fifth. GAAHH it just frustrates me. I want my name out there like other kids my age..people already knwo who they r and want to train with them eventually....but know one respects me on my arabian. So yea...please do u have any opinions? arab shows areant and option...theres one entire show the whole year in my state, and he isnt really nice enough to go to any big shows. yea i cant do arab circuit...no shows where i live...n hes just not good enough confirmation wise oops forgot to add- I Have a very good big time trainer. She takes me to all the shows...but im her only student with an off breed :p and im not bashing qh or people who ride them..i was saying about the kids who get handed already dead broke %100 trained horses
Paint breeders help!? Thanks in advance for all your help! Sorry for being long but i just want to be clear that i am not a newbe just wanting to breed for fun or because my mare is pretty. I am a small hobby breeder of SE AK and Asil Arabians so forgive me for lacking knowledge in the paint lines. My first horse was a Tabino paint, but that was almost 15 years ago and i was more concerned about riding him then finding out about his lines. I also owned a pinto mare before i went strictly to Arabian and I miss the flashy markings. Hubby has informed me that he would like to start doing barrels and a bit of cutting and bulldogging so i have decided to breed my one Arabian mare for a good prospect as i will be expecting an exciting SE AK foal from my other mare at the same time. I could go out and buy him a horse, but I really do enjoy raising and training my own foals. He is new to riding so by the time I can start this foal he should have had lots of practice on my girls. The mare i have in mind threw an awesome little colt a few years back when i first bought her that was half QH paint though solid bay. I am looking for some prospect studs for a spring breeding, preferably with a good show record and known lines. Would love to see some color this time too. This is where i need help, I know my arab lines very well but not so much when it comes to this breed. If anyone has any suggestions please can you let me know. I am in Alberta Canada but depending on the stud i will consider shipping semen.
how much would you pay for this horse? i have a horse she is only a brood mare egyptian arabian mare and has beautiful babies and has really good bloodlines..how much would you pay for her.http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo180... she is broke but the vet gave her a jugular vain and when you ride her sometime it swells up and she goes into panic attacks so it is best not to ride her she was a wonderful mare we started riding her when she 3 and she had the mind of a 21 year old horse she was a good mare though.the vet said it may go away and she can be ridden again i have been to schooling shows with her and in the green class she one 1st out of all adults and about 25 horses and she set her head down and looked like she has done it a million times and it was her first time she was a wonderful horse she is also 8 years old trailers HERSELF.lol litarely she does and clips bathes etc. 2 minutes ago and she is registered with breeders sweepstakes http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo180/sweetheart4you9/2009_0327327090003.jpg
Nervous Horse? Help!? Okaii,, so I have a couple things: 1) My horse (4 year old arabian) has been in training for 2 years now (he is turning 5 in May) and he is still very saddle shy. I am NOT the person who broke him! His previous owner did. He moves around quite a bit when I try to saddle him. (I have only tried it once because I rode him bareback in a halter for the past few weeks. (I just bought him) So, when he started fidgeting, I let him smell the saddle for a while, then when he was calm I, confidently is the KEY word here, took baby steps towards him. Stepping a little bit inside his comfort zone each time and then praising him when he calmed. I eventually got to rubbing the saddle on him, and then put it on. I did this a couple times. Then, I left him tied up right beside our saddle rack and watched him from secret and he didnt even care about the saddle. I WOULD try the whole "leave the saddle in his stall" thing, but we dont have a stable. We just have a shop with quads and stuff in it that I keep my saddles in. Do you have any more suggestions on helping him with saddle shyness? 2) The same horse is also scared of towels. It is weird, because I can whip it around my head, throw it at his feet, drop it on the ground under his head, etc. and he is fine with it. But, he is scared to be touched with it. And another thing, he is fine with his head being touched by it, but not his body. So I did the same thing that I had done with the saddle. Then, with the saddle on, I put the towel on top of the saddle and walked him around the yard with it on. He wasnt bothered. Any suggestions here? 3) This horse is an absolute ANGEL to work with on the ground, his breeder (not the previous owner) did wonderful ground work with him starting from the day he was born. Also, he is a dream to ride! OMG, I have literally never rode or even heard about a horse that was this responsive in my entire life! He is not like those overly responsive horses that jump start at every cue, he takes everything so smoothly! The cues I give him, are literally invisible. Like you could ride him in a curb (although I NEVER would ruin his mouth like that, it is too soft!) or you could ride him in a halter and he is still the same horse. They actually said to me when I bought him... "Ride him in a rubber snaffle or a halter because anything more harsh than that and he will overbend his head!" And that is so true. He is very good with leg too, like you could squeeze with one ounze of pressure with your outside leg behind the girth from a walk and he will go to a canter. He also loves being groomed. He is super easy to bridle, he practically does it for you. It is just when it comes to saddling. I have only put a saddle on him 2 times. Once and it was a western saddle and it fit him correctly and everything, and he was a little fidgety but not bad because someone else was holding him. And then today, with my english saddle he was scared. Not trying to bite or kick me or anything close to that, just fidgety. I think that the previous owners had ridden him in a saddle that was not the right size for him, because he doesn't like the saddle. But as soon as the saddle is on him he is fine. I don''t come at him like a monster or anything. Can you help me explain this complete change in character? 4) I am taking him to my first and his first ever Pony Club meeting once they start giving lessons again (due to the retarded snow in Alberta right now) Do you have any tips on keeping him calm and keeping myself calm when he needs the confidence? He will be meeting about 5 or 6 new horses all at once, and then riding with them. I am not sure how to handle this, any tips on the meet and greet as well? Thanks, Ally
How do you feel about bizzare 'designer' crossbreeds of horses? ? My friend has an Arabian mare she wants to breed. Personally I am against this. The horse is healthy but and has had healthy foals with a previous owner but she doesn't have the best personality. She spooks, she's nervous and she is weird around other horses. We've worked with her a lot and it IS a bit better but she is 9 years old and I personally think her disposition is what it is and can't really be changed. I would not be against someone breeding a horse if it was for a specific purpose but this is more of a fun project for my friend. A project that I (regrettably) offered to help her with. She has money and if I back out I am not at a financial loss, so this is a plus. I have put a lot of time into. I want what is best for the horse but it's more the owner and the future foal (if any) I am concerned about. There is an overpopulation of horses with the economy being what it is. To make things worse, Arabians and 'Arabmutts' in particular have been over bred, inbred and poorly bred in this country. I've come across many 'bad seeds' in the Arab world. I love Arabians and owned one Arab-Welsh myself but if you don't breed train them properly, you end up with a mess! They enjoyed a lot of popularity in the 80's and 90's but now as a lot of people know, they aren't for everyone! This mare is not a bad specimen in the looks department. She has a pretty head, a mostly balanced conformation and a nice gait but she is difficult to work with even in the hands of experienced riders. The concept of breeding another Arabian under these circumstances seems pointless and so does my friend's other idea: She wants to breed her to a more 'exotic' stallion. We've researched Frisians, Akak Tekes, Tennessee Walking horses, Andalucians, Paso Finos, Bashkir Curly, Lippizaners and some others. Many will ship semen and have an affordable (affordable for HER anyway) stud fee. Making the baby isn't a terribly difficult thing to do. But what's to become of it if it doesn't end up the perfect horse she is hoping for? She is responsible and would never allow anything bad to happen to an animal but personally, I think she really needs to reconsider. She is a great rider but knows almost nothing about horse genetics. I know a little more but that's not saying much! I know enough, to know that I don't know enough about horse breeding to do this! There is so much to think about, even with purebreds. When making a 'mutt' you really don't know what you are getting. I just don't want her to end up with a problem horse she can't sell! And if she does sell it, does the world really need another mutt horse. I also understand how much horse breeders value maintaining the purity of their bloodlines. Sure people can come up with good crossbreeds but unless it's a well trained, calm, attractive horse, it's just another mutt! The more I think about this, it's just a bad idea on every level. It's wrong morally, it's wrong finacially and it's wrong because neither of us know what we are doing when it comes to breeding! No matter how I try to explain this, she is dead-set on breeding her mare. If she does indeed do this, how can I advise her so she can make the best decision? What kinds of things should she be aware of when selecting a sire? Does anyone else have a problem with people who do this, even if they raise and train the horse properly? Personally, I am trying to convince her to rescue a yearling or something if she wants a baby horse. If she just wants a mutt-pleasure horse, why not just save one who is already here instead of making another one? Am I on a moral 'high horse' about this like she says I am? Or should she reconsider? TRUST ME! I have told her all this! She just thinks I am 'preaching' and goes on about what a cute foal she might 'make' the problem is NATURE decides how they turn out!
I am finally washing my hands of him what? My 37 yr old retarded Son Bartholomew has announced his sexual persuasion this evening during our annual celebration of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. My house guests included Field marshall Augustus Pomplebury, Brigadier Edmund Hilary bowerstock and none other than the famous Major general Barstow forsythe Windsor. Needless to say it was most disconcerting when Bartholomew tapped the table, rose with his glass held high and announced his undying love for julia, his Arabian stallion thoroughbred. It would seem that the two have been conducting a secret affair for over 6 months in the confines of the Clap Trap stables. It now makes complete sense why he never took advantage of the eastern European sex workers I had deposited in his bedroom since puberty. It would seem he would have been more at ease with a copy of "horse breeders monthly" Further more he continued the embarrassing charade by also announcing the engagement and his intention to marry Julia ASAP. After he invited everyone present to the reception my shocked guests suddenly developed gas leaks and burglars and left in a hurry. During the following body whipping I delivered him, he had the damned audacity to ask me for an allowance for the honeymoon. My ridiculous offspring insists on his right to engage into his sexual preference of bestiality and states that what a consenting man and his gay horse gets up to in the bedroom is nobodies business but his own. I wouldnt even mind if Julia was actually a female horse but she unmistakably has a tool the size of a cucumber on steroids. Should I have him psycho analysed ? Is he clearly experiencing a malfunction in the control room? What of my son? Should I have him committed too? perhaps into the same institution as his mother?
My retarded son has declared his sexuality, Should I have him committed? What horse should I breed my mare to? I have a Grey Arabian mare that has already had a few foals, none of them while i owned her. I would really like to breed her so I could have one of her foals. I am only going to breed her once, and she is purebred and registered with amazing bloodlines. I'm not just a background breeder, don't worry. If i did decide to breed her, what stallion should i breed her too? All i care about is that its an Arabian, has good conformation and personality, and is in the Southern USA. If you could give me some ads that would be great. Thanks! I meant to say backyard breeder hahahaha oops How does he look? http://www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=1399843&share_this=Y

Another English Pleasure and Park Question? Hey. So, as you may remember I am looking at breeding my Anglo-Arabian dressage mare. As there are not many purebred Arabian dressage stallions, I am looking at stallions who competed in a variety of disciplines. Recently, I have come across quite a few EP and Park horses who seem to have beautiful suspension within the gaits -- in part due to weighted and padded shoes, but in part due to breeding. My question is... what do breeders look for in a EP or Park horse? I'm seeing a lot of flat, straight backs, narrow ribs/barrels, and flat, straight-lined croups. Also, I notice that they move very uniquely from the hind end. As I haven't found many videos of the animals without shoes or free in the pasture, I worry that they wouldn't have the proper muscling or build through the hind end to sit and come underneath themselves, key to dressage. Thoughts?
Just curious about what they would sell for... I don't plan on selling them but I am curious about what they would go for in other areas. I rescued them about 6 weeks ago and the former owner (who had closed his office) has sent off for copies of the registration papers. I was told: Lyla is a fleabitten grey Straight Egyptian Arabian, 7-8 years old. Rode good but shied out from under the rider sometimes. Never shown. Also was told her sire was a Russian import and her granddam was sold for $2 million. She has an anxious personality and shies easily but is a people pleaser. Marlie is an 10 year old, chestnut Arabian (maybe Crabbet or Polish from the looks of her). Never shown. Was a child's (12- 14 years old) horse when she was 5 years old but the child moved away. Is calmer than Lyla but is more headstrong. Neither have bucked. They have not been ridden in a year or more. However we have been brushing up their manners and they are coming along well. I know that the area I live in is not big on Arabians (mostly QH and paints here). In fact there are no Arabians for sale in a 100 radius of my town on the major websites and only 3 in a 150 radius. Looking at the idea of perhaps breeding in a year or two. I have only found 1 breeder in the area and she does maybe 1 a year. Might be a nitch here for Arabians. Just a thought about what they would go for if we went for it. Take a look and tell me what you think. Both horses http://www.flickr.com/photos/29098793@N04/2717094341/ Lyla http://www.flickr.com/photos/29098793@N04/2717953518/ Marlie http://www.flickr.com/photos/29098793@N04/2717105333/ Been looking at Straight Egyptians in the South and they go anywhere from 1,500 to 10,000 as yearlings and 2 year olds on the breeder's website. It just got me curious if my Lyla was worth that if I was told the truth about her pedigree. Same for Marlie.
Can anyone tell me about Kiger Mountain Horses? I grew up riding horses, but not in the "traditional" riding sense. I'm going to be taking lessons with a friend who shows, trains and breeds Arabians to learn how to ride "properly" lol. I'm considering buying a horse late this summer and don't really want an Arab. It's between a QH and a KMH right now, but I REALLY like the looks of the KMH. Does anyone have any experience with one of these horses? Are they good horses for a first timer with resources? I'll have a lot of support from my friend when finding, purchasing and training a horse. Do you have any breeder reccommendations. I'll probably want a captive bred, partially trained horse. I know it's late, so if you don't, could you please star in case one of your contacts does know a little they might answer?
Training our recently gelded gelding? I had put up here the other day about our stallion that we were thinking about putting down b/c he had attacked our Mustang and tried attacking me. Well, we had him gelded 2 days ago. I know it takes up to 60 days before the testosterone is out of his system, but what can I do now to start training him? He's going to be used for trail riding and gymkhana. The last time (before being gelded) he was lunged he ended up almost killing the guy who was doing it. I'm not afraid of Tonto, but I am afraid that he might try to hurt someone still if we start him too soon. Any trainers / breeders out there know how to overcome this? He has been getting better about the other horses, and they've had their paybacks against him. He didn't charge or try to follow when I worked with the Arabian I'm currently riding. I was able to lunge him, but I dunno if I dare try Tonto. But once I do, what can I do to get him use to the saddle and everything again? He's still very possessive about our mare still. How can I get him to overcome this without ripping our barn down when they are apart? We also don't currently have the money to put into a wooden fenced pasture or a roundpen and if he's in a seperate pasture than the mare, he'll tear down the fence to get at her. I am not the owner, so please don't criticise me, I am the one who moved in with the owners to help take care of the horses. If I can get a good routine and trust established with Tonto, I will be buying him along with the Arabian I currently ride. Please help!! thanks
how much food should i give the mares after i breed them? well i'm asking this because i'm not completely sure. since you guys don't think i am ready to be a racer i am going to be a breeder instead. i already bred three mares to my arabian stud and i put the other two into his pasture this morning so he can breed those two, too. how much food do they need? i give all of them two flakes of alfalfa in the morning and it the night (they all eat i separate it where they can) and they are nice and have muscles and are at a good weight right now and i don't want them getting skinnier. i like them being nice and healthy and yes i'll get a trainer to help me and yes these are good horses. so how much to feed them and what to feed them? thank you :) oh and how many mares with a stallion can i put into a 20 acre pasture because that's what there living in and i want to buy more *good* horses for breeding but i don't want to crowd them either
Arabian horse breeder? Can anyone reccomend a breeder near to bristol, bath, or gloucester? Thanks.

Does anyone know of a good arabian horse breeder in Ontario? Hi, I am living in Ontario, and I am looking for reputable Arabian horse breeders to consider buying a horse from. I would also really appreciate it if they had a website I could look at. I would be looking for a horse I could use in the hunter/jumper eventing section as well as english pleasure riding. Thanks, Sadie i am living near toronto right now, with a stable in campbelle ville (near milton)
