What's your opinion of Arabian horses? I'm used to Quarter horses, but there's a lot of Arabians for sale in my area, and I'm considering getting one. I don't compete, I just do pleasure riding and trail riding. Would getting an Arabian horse be a good idea? Why or why not?
Sites where I can post my horses for sale for free(the ads are free not the horses)? I am wondering where (in the USA) can I post my horses for sale all breeds but mostly high dollar arabians.
**Horses For Sale**? I cannot find places near enough to missouri for arabians to be for sale and they have to be cheap what are some good websites that i can find arabinas for sale that are cheap (and dont say petfinder.com)
Arabians!!!!? I am doing a report for school and I need to know a little info on Arabians, Their average height, what style of riding they are best for, and what diffrent colors they are usually! Thanks a lot! Also, if you know of any Arabian horses for sale in Illinois that would help a lot too! Sadly the pony that we were going to get sold so we need to keep looking.
don't you love the looks of these horses? i'm not planning on buying them. because their not for sale! but i'm just asking to see what your opinion is on them! http://www.nhoutdoors.com/horses1.jpg http://www.bigskygypsy.com/images/Tali-right-front-web.jpg http://www.smokymountainparkarabians.com/images/arabian_horse_boss.jpg http://epets.co.za/Uploads/CMSImages/Horse%20Breeds/American%20Paint%20Horse.jpg http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/03_02/ShireHorseDM_468x377.jpg http://www.yourhorse.co.uk/upload/16265/images/horses-for-sale.jpg what do you think? this is just for fun!

my horses hip keeps popping? I bought a horse at the horse sale a few months ago he has a good clean vet record. He is a half-arabian and a descendent of the famous breeding stallion khemosabbi+++ and i got him for only 50 bucks yay me, his previous owner used him for barrel racing his hip makes a popping noise when i ride him. is this normal or what could it be....
Does anyone have young horse for sale? I am looking for a young horse for sale. under the age of 6. not a quarter/arabian or any draft horse. I would like the horse to be as cheap as possible. Not mixed breed. im inlove with all the warmbloods. if you know any good website for TOP QUALITY horsses for sale please let me know. I have benn rideing 7 years. I do loooooove the hard to handle crazzy high strung horses. They are my specialty! Please help me out if you can. Thanks
What kind of horse should I get? Ok so these are my two favorite breeds: Quarter Horse, Arabian and Knabstrup. My favorite color is paint, pinto, appaloosa, and I looooove palamino! I am 13 years old, I had riding lessons about 3 years ago,I have not been on a horse for more than a year, I LOVE horses and I would do anything to have one. I have wanted a horse since I was 5 and have just recently moved into the hills. I have got a goal of $5000 to save up. I was looking on a horse sale site and I have seen allot of horses for under $2000. I just wanna be sure I would have enough money to get a trailer (just a single one) and all the tack and brushes and care equipment, as well as cleaning stuff. Mum and Dad would pay for all the vet bills and food and all the other expeses, so I'm just looking at the basics for me. I have a place where I can keep it just next door. There is a really nice old man and he has an unused paddock. If I can't use it for free then it would be cheap. I have places to ride it around, I have read like every horse book about car and grooming and riding and everything, so I know allot about how to break a horse and groom and feed and everything. I would most likely want a young horse, a filly or a colt, because if I got a 17 year old horse, it probobly wouldn't live too much longer with me. Are mares or stallions better temered? Or a gelding? I need to know what breed, out of my favourites, and also what gender. Thank you so much!
which breed of horses is easiest to train? okay so i might get my first horse soon and i really love this one arabian mare..but i also found a quaterhorse mare and a tb. so which breed would be the best/easiest to train... links: http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-185387 http://www.horseville.com/horses/horse212398.html# http://www.horseville.com/php/view.php?id=218390 http://www.equinehits.com/horses-for-sale/horse-247757 http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-105267 http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-184504 okay these are just some.... tell me what you think... and i know that some of them are not well trained... my parents used to have many horses and trained them... so they could help me with than okay i dont know how to do the little comment thingy at the bottom so here... thanks... can you tell me which would be an easy horse to like ride/train... and my mom had told me that quarterhorses were very stubborn. and idk so is this true... if you have many cross breeds you might have a quarter horse :) thanks thanks tori... thats what my mom said about the arabians bc her and my dad had like 6 or 7... and can yall' like tell me which horse off of the links would be like the easiest to ride/train??? thank lots:)
Does anyone know any good Arabians for sale? I am looking for an Arabian mare or gelding between the ages of 8 and 14 that is located in Wisconsin. The price range i'm looking at is between $0- $2,000. This horse must be a trail horse too. If anyone can help that would be fantastic. Thanks!
Gray/White Arabian Mare for Sale? My sister is selling her 18-20 year old gray/white Arabian mare. She is a great trail and pleasure riding horse and is very gentle with both children and adults. I don't think she is registered. She is selling the horse because the horse's pasture mate had to be put down a couple of months ago and the mare has become depressed and is going downhill due to the lack of other horses (she is the only one now). This mare is best as a follower -not a LEAD horse. My sister is asking $500.00 for this mare. Anyone in the Jefferson County, Pennsylvania area interested in buying this mare? (Horse's name is Christie). If not interested - do you think this is a good asking price for this horse?
What do you think of my new horse? He is a 16hh purebred registered Arabian gelding. His name is Mr. Bean but I def think I am changing it to Jetta, because well, Mr. Bean just doesn't fit him, he is too young and peppy. Anyways enough rambling, let me know what you think of him, its from a silly angle and a little faded out now because I bought him and the guy took the add down. There are no wrong answers to this question! It's opinion and/or fact based! Thanks here it is http://canada.oodle.com/detail/Reg-Arabian-Gelding---Horse-For-Sale-in-Clayton-NY/1024370627/kingstonon/ I thumbs uped you :) idk why people thumbs down and don't say why, I think it's just pettiness w/e. Just wanted to say though not everyone has to be nice! if you don't like Arabs or think he is not built well say something! *headdesk* yeas he is PURE! I have his papers! he isn't palomino as a horse with palomino coloring has less than like 27% black in the mane and tail. he isn't golden colored either. Just because he has a lighter mane and tail doesn't mean he isn't chestnut. His damn and sire and full blood sister are in the same barn and they are all registered pure Arabians, yes I know he is tall but there are exceptions to every rule lol. That sounded a lot snippier than I wanted it to He is not a pali. You cannot see the black in that horses mane and tail because it is not a close up of his hairs. i realize palis come in different shades but have you ever seen a Kentucky mountain pony? They are called liver chestnut yet have a flaxen mane and tail. There are guidelines for the color, just because a horses mane is lighter doesn't mean its automatically a pali. I don't know how many more ways I can put this. p.s. galloppal his sire is bay and his dam is grey too! I think we have solved the mystery! haha this is how the PHBA (Palomino Horse Breeders Association) describes the flaxen mane...As it stands now, the Palomino Horse Association will accept and register a horse of any breed as long as it carries the classic golden coloring. The type standard is defined as the ideal horse having a coat the color of a gold coin, but the shade can vary from light, medium, to dark gold. The mane and tail should be white, ivory, or silver, but 15% dark or sorrel hair mixed in is allowed. As you can see there is waaaay more than 15% dark hairs so...HA stop with the your horse is a fraud cause its a pali stuff...geezzz here is the website for the PHBA http://www.essortment.com/all/palominohorsea_rjai.htm His pedigree says he is a chestnut.
Arabians for sale around north dakota or minnesota? Anyone selling any broke Arabs? Or any good sites to find horses? thanks ahead of time! preferably 6-15yrs, mare or gelding only, 14.2-15.3, broke to ride
Is this a fake horse ad? Ok i was on horsetopia and just looking at horses for sale (not interested in buying any) and i was just going through the breeds and I saw the Caspian so i clicked on it. It came up with 2 ads and I pressed on the ad named Teddy.. Here's the ad: http://horsetopia.horse-for-sale.org/classifieds/ad393186 Well, first of all the first picture is a picture of some arabian ( i know because we are subscribed to arabian horse magazine and i saw it in the magazine) (well i think) and the other picture doesn't even look like the first horse (picture)! I also saw the second picture somewhere on the internet. second of all, that doesn't even look like a Caspian!!!!! Caspian's are around 10hh to 13hh! So, i'm pretty sure it's fake, if that's what it's called? and please tell me what you think? and what you should do? Sorry for the bad grammar!

I do not own these horses but they seem like great horses so please check them out! The owner is going to college so she needs a great horse person to take care of them. http://www.equinehits.com/horses-for-sale/horse-219786 Beautiful Bay thoroughbred gelding Not suitable for beginner or timid rider http://www.equinehits.com/horses-for-sale/horse-201092 Adorable Grey Andalusian/Arabian Mare Great first horse to learn more Thanks for looking! Oh i know the girl going ot college and she wants everyone to put the word out. Only if i could lease one... because germantown and moraine is close to each other. not sure why thay are at differant stables though.
Do I really want another Arabian mare?!? I have a registered Arabian mare (minus her papers) and the person I bought her from has called to let me know that he has another horse for sale that I may be interested in. This is another Arabian mare. The one I have is mostly sweet though she can be a total brat at times too like a week or so out of the month. The new mare is for sure bred so I don't know if that would cause any issues between the mares. Plus I think they already "know" each other since they were from the same pasture. I don't know if more than a month would make them forget each other. Anyway....have you ever had issues with more than one mare together, especially Arabians? A lot of people warn me against Arabians but they can't all be bad! What's your take? thanks! I have a gelding too that I never bothered to ask what breed he his and from what I can tell, he's a cross of QH and Arab. He's my gentle giant. He and the mare get along wonderfully after the pecking order was established. I'm sure things will be fine, I'm just hesitant to get another horse that hasn't been rode in a few years, no matter how dead broke it was before. devilrider~~my gelding is not a wuss at all either~~he can go all day and won't stop if you're asking him to go more. He's a sweet heart and my gentle giant!
Can you find this video on youtube for me? I'm looking for this horse for sale. The lady told me to go to youtube and look under animals for ShezaGoldenRainbeau. 1st link gets the points. She is a half arabian palamino I'm trying. I'm just having trouble finding it is all. Just if anyone has anymore luck. no. but i'll give you the points for trying. she actually put it on a site called utube.com. i had no idea there was one.
What do think about this horse? I want to buy this horse because I LOVE arabians! I also want to do some jumping and he looks like a good prospect. Confirmation???? Size??? http://www.equinehits.com/horses-for-sale/horse-90617
Which one/any suggestions? Okay, I really want to get a horse, preferably an arabian, but don't know what to do! My friend is willing to loan me a Western Saddle but I want to do English. I thought I could show in Western a while and with the prize money buy an English saddle and switch my horse to english but idk... any suggestions? We are tight on money but my mom is getting a higher paying job which she says will cover board/show fees. I also need help finding a horse! Preferably a Quarter, Arab, or a Pony. Will want to do Barrels and Hunter classes maybe even showing. Any color. Preferably 2-14 years old. Please be in AZ! Between 0-1,000 dollars. Also, must already be saddle-trained!! Not really picky... http://horsetopia.horse-for-sale.org/classifieds/ad270769 http://horsetopia.horse-for-sale.org/classifieds/ad273948 http://www.horsefinders.com/horse-for-sale-AraAppaloosa-_50717_29_2.html http://i28.tinypic.com/2h4w3lg.jpg these are some horses I like. I just need options... Thanks! I would never stop riding... I just want my own that I can show. Right now I can't show because I don't have one. I am ready for it and its one of my dreams. Yes, I am an experienced rider. I don't need an old retiree as some of you may be thinking! I want a bit of a challenge, something a bit green but a horse that has been introduced to the saddle. And the 2 y/o is only bein lightly ridden, not fully. I want something young, a horse to 'grow old' with. Thanks for all the links! That's what I'm lookin for!! Also, my trainers only have access to the high-price arabians. (I ride arabs right now for English). My western trainers always give me difficult horses because by the end of the hour, I have the usually problem horses loving me and obeying me down to the dime. As you can see, I want a challenge but not have to fully break the horse. I want a good-lookin horse that will look nice in shows. And ya, the horses I picked aren't the 1k but are negtionable and over time will lower. I am planning on bringing trainers along to check-over these horses and will ride them to make sure they're sound. I know it won't be quick and easy to get my own English saddle. It will take me about a year or so and I'm fine with that. And yes, I am an advanced rider. Have been riding WAY more than 3 years. I am not stupid and know how 2-3 y/os act. I WANT the challenge. I have time for the challenge. I would like to feel like I had art in training a my horse, not just getting it and becoming light friends. Also, I want to find that perfect one. If I do, I don't want it to have to retire in a few years! The only reason I don't have a horse now was because we couldn't afford it. I am an intermedate/advanced rider and my first lesson in English my trainer was astonished. She couldn't believe it was my first time. I am born into the saddle and have no problem training horses into it. I just don't have time to start from scratch with a horse. Thanks for all the links although pictures are appreciated. If a horse doesn't have pictures, it usually means there is something wrong with it. *Sigh* Could you guys just shut up about my level of riding already? That's not even what the question is about! I just need help finding a horse... Dang. You all are so critical! And I don't have to prove anything to you. If you don't believe me, fine. Whatever. Just let it go now. I really just need a good horse. That's why I'm asking, not for all of you to critisize me. I don't care if you believe I am that experienced of a rider. Could you please just give me options? And also, I can't show on the barn's horses. Its way too expensive! They want like 10,000 for showing on one. I can afford lessons. I just want to show. I am not nervous in crowds and have been to shows not to mention my friend shows and I'm willing to work for it. I'm up to the task. So let's let that all go and just answer my question, okay?
How tall do you think this mare is? http://www.horsedeals.com.au/horses-for-sale.php?horseTypes_id=17&subType=&horsePrice1=&horsePrice2=1000&horseHeight1=&horseHeight2=&horseAge1=&horseAge2=&location=VIC&horseDesc=pure+arabian+mare&doSrch=doSrch&page=1&srchStat=Y&catFlag=Y&withPreviews=&refNo=&sold=&createdById= look at the white mare how tall do you think she is ??

How does this horse look for jumping? Its a percheron x arabian, Is its back too long? Tell me what you think. Also.... I cant decide if it is a Stallion or a Mare, the equine ad says mare, but it also says stallion, and the actual website says stallion. I cant really tell from the pics. Equine: http://www.equine.com/horses-for-sale/horse-ad-754093.aspx?search_id=daaedf94-6c6d-41e3-b996-5f4faafb8cba Actual site (first on list): http://www.sunstonearabians.com/salehorses.htm Thanks for your input.
opinions on a horse im buying? i recently moved from az to ohio. i sold my 3 horses to a great person. i didnt think it would be fair to move them from hot to cold weather. i started to get the itch to ride again so went on craigslist. i just typed in horse for sale and went through what came up. i found a beautiful thoroughbred. hes 7. out of avatar. he was raced but just didnt have the heart for that kind of running. i know all about what hot heads this breed can be like. ive owned them, along with arabians and quarter horses. my question is, how good can a tbred be at barrel racing? ive always chased the cans but if they arent very good, i might need to find another horse. she wants $500 for him. she says she just really wants him to go to a good home. ive riden him, felt his legs, and had a vet look at him. hes 100% sound.
Do you think its up to her to replace the horse? Alright, so I ride and train horses for a woman that has about 30 (now closer to 20) which also involve me showing them off to potential buyers. About a month ago, a woman came out with her kids looking to look at all our horses for sale, and agreed to buy the 18 year old arabian x app cross (star), and 23 blind in one eye, QH.(Windy) 500$ for both of them (250 each) She believes more in a good home then making profits from the sale, plus in the 'we get snow in may' state, the horse market is rotten. Anyhow, I get this email today - "Had a shocker Friday night. Sue (bought Star and Windy) called. Wednesday night they were riding, Windy out front, ears forward, prancing a little, enjoying her ride. All of a sudden her knees buckle, she rears and goes over backwards, struggles to her feet, falls headlong into the ditch, dead. They think it must have been a heart attack. They took Sue to the ER, she has a hematoma on the head and a bruised swollen arm. I could not have known something like this would ever happen, but I feel guilty anyway. I sold her a dead horse. Am trying to find a cheap riding horse to replace her" Do you think its up to her to replace the horse?
what horse do you think would be best for me? I'm an experienced rider. I ride western or english. I've been wanting a hrose for a long time and it would be my first horse. I ride at a barn that has all Arabians so yes I know Arabians are hyper buy I ride Arabians I can handle it. Some of these ads might say sold here, but that doesn't mean that there sold it's just that their advertising that their sold here, so yeah. tell me what one you think would best suit me. Remember I am really good with horses, and could give a little bit of training prospects if needed. Thank you soooo much for helping me out. here is all of the horses i've been looking at...http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/grd/969658096.html, and...http://www.equinehits.com/horses-for-sale/horse-207153, and...http://www.equinehits.com/horses-for-sale/horse-227867, and...http://www.horseville.com/php/view.php?id=166320. Yeah that horse at horseville is not sold remember.
What do you think of this gelding? Hey there, so I am looking for a horse for lease, I found this guy, what do yout hink of him? http://horsetopia.horse-for-sale.org/classifieds/ad275140 Only problem is, I emailed the owner, and she said that I would only be able to ride two times a week, and that somebody else already has a lease on him, do you think I should do it? or no? Here's some pictures: http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a241/KStrong86/Hobb/ And this is the email she replied to: Hi there! Hobb is boarded at a full service, brand new barn. The barn name is Wyndem Rose in Webster, MN. You can google Wyndem Rose Stable and it should be the first or second link that pops up. Its roughly 20 minutes south of Lakeville. 120 x 80 heated indoor arena, 200 x 100 outdoor arena, land to ride on and a heated lounge. Theres more pictures on the website if you go to it. We have a lot of fun - organized trail rides, barn parties, game day, the whole ordeal :) Hobb stands a bit shy of 16H, hes long and hes on the narrow side of things (although hes gotten a bit of a belly on him in the past few years :)) He is a jack of all trades - he has about 4 or 5 years of professional training in huntseat, and he has shown quite a bit in Class A Arabian shows... Locally we have also done western pleasure, showmanship and halter. In the past three years he and I have dedicated more time to relaxing and trying new things - dressage, jumping, trail, games, etc. So hes very versitile. He needs a rider that knows how to walk/trot/canter, but like my 8 year old neighbor walk/trot/canter/jumps him and she does great, so youth riders are no problem. Then theres my 45 year old uncle, who knows nothing about horses, gets on him and walk/trot/canters him just fine. Hes really a big sweetheart - makes funny faces, "snuggles", participates in coversations, the whole ordeal! His trot is very smooth, and hes got a nice rocking horse canter. He is not hot headed at all - actually hes pretty lazy. On occassion he will look at something, but he doesn't jump all the way across the arena or anything. He walks over tarps, flower boxes, he jumps the stream out on the property... hes just a good guy with a huge heart. He has his own tack, brushes, tack locker, saddles, etc. The contract is $150 for two days a week, plus 1/3 of vet and farrier. Board is $450 a month, to put it in perspective. I do have a complete contract drawn up - I have a girl that leases him two days a week right now, so it would be the same exact contract that she has. I can send it along if you are interested, but basically it states that the horse is still mine, all decisions are made by me, the horse is not allowed to be taken from the property without my consent, etc. I pay for all blankets, halters, supplements, etc... So you are only respondsible for the $150 a month and the 1/3 of vet and farrier. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. If you would like to come meet him, try him out and see what you think, you are more then welcome to come out. Heres some videos and lots of pictures of him: http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a241/KStrong86/Hobb/ Oh by the way, I'm 14 going on 15, and i've been looking for a horse for a while, he seems like a good guy. Just not sure about the whole only riding twice a week thing. Thanks for the advice guys! I'm already taking two lessons a week through my barn. I might have found a lease at the barn that I take lessons at. You all illustrated a very good point, while he seems nice, I don't think my mum is willing to pay $150 plus 1/3 of the vet bill. I posted it because I can't seem to find anything else. x.x;;
Horse trivia: Arabians, advanced....? I've enjoyed the trivia questions and quizzes that people have posted. I thought I'd have a try at posting some breed-specific trivia questions that are on the advanced side and see how they go. First quiz, Arabian breed the subject. In 1925, breakfast food magnate W. K. Kellogg purchased the initial acreage in Southern California on which he established his Arabian horse breeding farm. Kellogg eventually deeded the farm to the California State University system, and then the land and horses were passed on to the US Army Quartermaster Depot/Remount Service. When the Remount Service was turned over to the Department of Agriculture in 1948, the decision was made to sell the horses and the land. The sale of some of the horses was accomplished in 1949, but before all the the horses or any of the land could be sold, a young California congressman sponsored legislation to sell the ranch and horses back to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for $1; the foundation in turn donated the land to the state of California, with two provisos: one was that the land had to be used for educational purposes. It is on this land that the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona campus was built. So here are the three trivia questions: 1. What was the name of the most prominent, noteworthy Arabian horse that was sold off from the Remount depot at Kellogg Ranch before the legislation that saved the ranch and the horses was passed? 2. Who was the first-term congressman who wrote the legislation that saved the ranch and the horses? 3. What was the second of the two conditions that allow the state of California to continue to use the land that was the Kellogg Ranch?
Best website for selling horses in North Carolina? What's the best website where I can post my mare for sale and get the most local responses? She's an Egyptian Arabian, and there's not much of a market for that breed around Raleigh as far as I can tell and I REALLY need to sell her quickly b/c of financial reasons. I tried WRAL Classifieds but the only response I got was from a guy who was trying to scam me.
I'm looking for a new horse. Which do you think would best suit me? I'm 13 years old and would like a horse to do barrels and drill team on. I am pretty experienced, I've been riding Arabians since i was 8 years old, and riding on my own since I was 4-5. I barrel race, but on other peoples horses for them. I have an 11 year old Arab gelding that I use in western pleasure. I ride mostly ride western. I'm 5' 6'' and 125 pounds. I don't want another pleasure horse, because I really would like to ride my own horse in gaming. http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-220343 http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-227648 http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-230328 http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-233362 http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-223894 http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-198816 if you know of any other horses for sale that would fit my wants please let me know, because as you can see I'm having some troubles.... I don't think the 5th horse is too small for me...my Arab is 14.2 and we do just fine and he never tires or acts like I'm too big for him. We do great in the show ring, too. fanpire, you have obviously never barrel raced an Arab!!!! or at least not a very good one! SERIOUSLY! Your answer really offended me. I've won several barrel races with Arabians. I race 2 different Arabs and one QH. And I will tell you something, I would be happier with either of the Arabs than the stubborn QH! I have nothing against Quarters, they make excellent western gaming and trail horses, but they don't have the temperament and willingness that Arabs do. I personally think that arabs do just as well as qh and would like to know why you think arabs are so "out of the list"????
Your opinion on these horses..? Yesterday evening I went to look at a 17 month old Spotted Draft/TB filly. She hasn't been worked basically since being a weanling but, did really well for the basic stuff (lead, back, mess with her all over, picked up all feet). They want $500 for her.. but, I know they'll negotiate. Here is her ad: http://columbus.craigslist.org/grd/1426591399.html While I was there I saw an Arabian they had for sale and asked to work with him and ride him. He is a 9 year old Spanish bred Arabian. I didn't measure him but he looks to be 15.1-15.2. My Arabian is 15.1 and this one was slightly taller. He hasn't been worked with much at all in a while but he did really good for the basics (see above) and lunging. He also did great under saddle for not being worked with. He W/T/C, backs, and stops as far as I know. The lady who is selling the horses just had her trainer show me them so, I have to ask her how much she is asking for the Arab and I have a few more questions about him. I am looking for a horse that has potential for a few things.. I'd like to get into jumping. Nothing big.. possibly small local shows. I also may want to do barrels. Again, nothing big.. possibly small shows. And, trail riding, of course! So, what do you think of these horses? I know the pictures are HORRIBLE. They were taken with my phone. And, for the filly the lady didn't really want me taking pictures of her since she was in an "ugly" stage so I just snapped a quick one. http://www.flickr.com/photos/9594162@N02/sets/72157622576973677/ I'm not sure what the stable name is. It is located in Granville, OH.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what there temperment is like, say compared to Quarter horses and arabians? I will probably use her for pleaseure riding, trails, and some flat work?? Thanks
What to do with horses? My parents are getting divorced, and involved in that is the sale of the five acres of property they live on. There are two horses, a 6-year old untrained Arabian Gelding and an older (not sure 14-15, maybe older) big black gelding. They have been living the lux life, no work and lots of food, for a long time. They are going to need to be rehomed, I can't take them, I live in the city. How hard will it be to find good homes for these two, they haven't even been ridden in years. :(
Just curious about what they would sell for... I don't plan on selling them but I am curious about what they would go for in other areas. I rescued them about 6 weeks ago and the former owner (who had closed his office) has sent off for copies of the registration papers. I was told: Lyla is a fleabitten grey Straight Egyptian Arabian, 7-8 years old. Rode good but shied out from under the rider sometimes. Never shown. Also was told her sire was a Russian import and her granddam was sold for $2 million. She has an anxious personality and shies easily but is a people pleaser. Marlie is an 10 year old, chestnut Arabian (maybe Crabbet or Polish from the looks of her). Never shown. Was a child's (12- 14 years old) horse when she was 5 years old but the child moved away. Is calmer than Lyla but is more headstrong. Neither have bucked. They have not been ridden in a year or more. However we have been brushing up their manners and they are coming along well. I know that the area I live in is not big on Arabians (mostly QH and paints here). In fact there are no Arabians for sale in a 100 radius of my town on the major websites and only 3 in a 150 radius. Looking at the idea of perhaps breeding in a year or two. I have only found 1 breeder in the area and she does maybe 1 a year. Might be a nitch here for Arabians. Just a thought about what they would go for if we went for it. Take a look and tell me what you think. Both horses http://www.flickr.com/photos/29098793@N04/2717094341/ Lyla http://www.flickr.com/photos/29098793@N04/2717953518/ Marlie http://www.flickr.com/photos/29098793@N04/2717105333/ Been looking at Straight Egyptians in the South and they go anywhere from 1,500 to 10,000 as yearlings and 2 year olds on the breeder's website. It just got me curious if my Lyla was worth that if I was told the truth about her pedigree. Same for Marlie.
Is this a slipped back? I like to look at my local Craigslist, and see what horses are for sale, laugh at people who are selling 'Phillys' (I actually bought one, have the receipt that states 'Philly' on it) and other things. I have been a fan of Saddlebreds, ever since I had moved to Arizona, and saw my neighbor's horses when I was a little girl. I've been told that I marched over there to tell her how pretty her horses are after I saw them. Naturally, whenever I see some for sale, especially now that I've moved to Kentucky, I like to look at them. Today, I saw one add, with someone selling several horses. From what they said, they are very nice, well bred horses. Then, I got to the end, where they have pictures. http://images.craigslist.org/3k63m63o95O45Pd5S998d4844186bf2181e12.jpg I think that that horse's back looks really off. I own TWHs, and I know how to stretch them out to show off their side conformation, so don't think that it looks like it jst seems off because she's stretched out a little. Once, I read an article that someone had posted here about bones, and riding young horses(which I wish I had bookmarked) and I remember, because it was a Saddlebred, a picture of a horse with I think what they called a 'Slipped Back' and it was caused by the horse having been ridden far too much at a young age. Now, as I had said, my old neighbor had Saddlebreds, which she showed. She had several that were very nice, including an old 20+ gelding that she would still show for fun on occasion. I don't remember any of them having any odd backs. The only horse she did at one time have was an old sway back Arabian that was 38 that she boarded for a friend. What do you think?
I'm nervous about selling my horses??? Well I have never sold a horse that I owned,I have never sold any horse! Well I have my 2 year old for sale, he's being too much of a handful for me. We are just not good together and then I put 2 of my grandmother's horses up and someone e-mailed about all three of them, the same person! Well the person just asked if I was giving my grandmother's mares away for free, I did not put a asking price me and my grandmother were discussing that. Then she e-mailed about Hershey which makes it more personal because I love this horse, well she just said that she was a experieneced rider and that she wanted to see him and he was gorgeous. And she said "and that price!" I am selling him for 500-600, but anyways something she said made me think about kill buyers--they act sweet and that they are going to give the horses a good home--but then they really kill them!!!!!! I am soooo nervous now that I might sell our horses to a kill buyer!!!! What she said to trigger those thoughts was "miss lisa are you giving away pretty arabian mares for free?" and it kind of freaked me out i don't know why but it did! I'm nervous now.....advice please?!?!? and i'm selling him low because he's going to need ALOT of training--I did some of his ground work but mostly he'll need training. and i'm selling him low because he's going to need ALOT of training--I did some of his ground work but mostly he'll need training. sorry for the double post! i asked her about herself since she gave me little info. to go on. but i'm still terrified. but i mean they would have to be really exp. riders cuz all the horses i am selling are not broke yet. the two mares has had someone on them the one was ridden around the barn..btw I'm 15 and my grandmother is helping me with the sales so yeah i'm pretty nervous about getting these horses the right home. i want to ask whoever buys my horse the 2 year old, i want to ask if they will sign a contract saying that if they ever want to sell him that they will contact me first and tell me and give me first option to buy back. I already know i'm not going to sell to her. my gut is telling me not to. and i'm not going to. i've known all these horses for years and years. it's just too personal. if they were to get slaughtered i couldn't bear to live with it.
Pictures of my horses. What do you think? Here is Georgia. She is a 10yr old Arabian/QH, possibly knocked up before I got her. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/Chewy0013/Georgia/014.jpg Here is Hamilton. 5 yr old Buckskin QH gelding. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/Chewy0013/Hamilton/015.jpg Here is Tucker. 8 yr old Buckskin QH.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/Chewy0013/Tucker/020-1.jpg Here is Savannah. She's 6 months old. I got her last month at the sale at St. Onge, South Dakota for $30. Suppose to be a paint. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/Chewy0013/Savannah/005.jpg And this is Lincoln, my pride and joy. He's the orphan I got for free at the same sale on May 13th, 2007 also at St. Onge, South Dakota. Yes he has a hay belly. He is 5 months old as of 10/06/07. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/Chewy0013/Lincoln/009.jpg None of these horses are show horses. Just my babies. Constructive critisism is always appreciated =) Best wishes. Dame Spencer...good eye...nope, none are show quality...but they have all been wormed. I do it every 6 weeks. Lincoln has a hay belly. It's from being a orphan. Georgia...I think she's older than 10 but that is what I was told she was...she looks better now than when I got her. Tucker is long in the back isn't he...but he is papered...nothing to brag about though....tis why he is a gelding. Hamilton...he's just one of those guys you ride strictly for pleasure. Oh and I love all of them =) oh yea...lol...I didn't get Georgia breed. Unfortunately...she came to me that way =( I do plan on keeping the baby though. No matter what =) I am giving her alone a mix of senior and mare and foal feed. She's doing really good on it. oh yea...again...Lincoln gets the best of feed. Creep feed has been a problem, he refuses to eat it...and I have tried all the tricks to fooling him into eating it...a losing battle with that. If I put it in with his other feed, he refuses both... Please don't thumb down any asnwers...everyone is only being honest on what they think...Thank you and best wishes to you all. AGAIN...maybe that will catch some of your attention who keep thinking Lincoln is wormy. He doesn't have worms...he's a orphan with a huge hay belly. Please make sure to read...lol. All my horses are wormed regularly. Yes it is fall here, but we have already had lots of frost. Temps in the 20's and 30's at night. No...I don't brush the pretty ponies mane and tail every day...and no...I don't brush them every day. It's almost always windy here and what you do one day, you can't tell the next...they all do get brushed 2 to 4 times a week. I also realize that Georgia isn't the best looking girl out there, but she looks way better than when I got her and the weak back end will never go away, it's really poor confirmation from obviouse poor breeding. Hence, why backyard breeding needs to stop. Just because people put 2 registered horses together doesn't mean there is going to be a beautiful foal. I have compared her with other Arabian/QH's and she is ugly compared to a lot of them...she has a big front end and absolutely no butt to speak of. To me though...she is gorgeous, healthy...tons of personality. And that is all that matters to me. I do think she is older than 10 though...I got a chart off the internet and what I have been able to compare...she's more like 18...but the people my sister got her from say 10... Oh and I should add...i said all my horses are wormed regularly...the excludes Savannah. She won't get wormed until the 14th, next Sunday. Then I will have help catching her for the first time. So no...she hasn't been wormed yet. I live in South Dakota and those pictures were just taken today...they are getting their winter coats already. It's already been in the 20's here....brrrrr.
How to get my horse sold quicker? I have had my horse posted for sale for the past 3 months and haven't gotten a single interest on him. I have recently dropped his price 2000 dollars in hopes of getting him sold quicker, but still no interest. I need to have him sold by the start of the show season. I have also respond to many want ads. Is there any other way to get him sold quicker? Please someone help me with my dilemma..thanks so much. For reference he is a 1991 purebred arabian gelding who has won numerous championships in dressage, hunter pleasure, and he is trained in all those disciplines as well as juming which he has competed and shown. Edited to ad details. I have him posted on various website. He is a very sweet horse. As far as price goes I had him posted for 7500 and lowered his price to 5500 one more thing. He is located in Cave Creek, Arizona
Made decision to sale one of my mares. How to deal? I purchased 2 mares almost 2 years ago. Both are Arabians. Lyla is very herd bound to Marli. She has gotten to the point that I do not consider her safe to be around. I've tried separating them. It only takes 1 day for the problem to come back. I also do not have the experience to ride such a horse. I have worked with her on her ground manners and she shows improvement one day and the next she is a totally different horse, rearing, dancing and rushing at me at the gate. I tried to get a trainer for her but after 4 days, she gave me my money back. Several people that have watched me with her and tried to handle her themselves agree that she has a love/hate attitude that points to abuse in the past. I have come to the decision that while she is some better, someone with more experience than I would be better for her. The fear I see in her has only diminished a little in our time together. I want more for her. I have put the word out that for the right person, I would consider giving her to them. The person would have to have lots of experience with Arabians and problem horses in general. Otherwise I will keep her myself rather than taking the chance that she would end up with someone that would be cruel to her instead of working with her. How do I deal with letting her go? Just got word that the farm that bred Lyla has lost her sire (he had to be about 34) in the last year and they would love to have her back so they can continue his bloodline! So I know she will be going to a good home that knows her. Still gonna cry though to loose my wild child.
Should I sale Him? I just got a 3 year old Arabian name Sir Britz 4 months ago. A week ago me and my mom went out to let him loose in the indoor arena and he went crazy!! He would not let me cacth him! Ive done this with him a million of times and this was the first time my mom had been in there to whach him. Does anyone know les evans??? also a warning? if ur in NSW or at any horse sales, probly not like WA but around nsw victoria so on. if u come across a man named Les Evans, dont buy or sell ur horse to him, i bought a horse for $2,500 buck off him sold at the sales but she was no good (she cat leapped) but gorgous face, butter couldnt melt in her mouth pure black mare stock horse, he bought her bak for $125 at the sales and sold her for more then that to an arabian stud somewhere gourgous place though, he also sends most horses to slaughter, the sales are ok but be cautioned about selling ur horse, buy a horse is good u could find a quiet mount but some have injuries and problems soo yeh bye be warned im sorry for the miss understanding, we bought the horse at the sales for $2.500 but she cat leaped wen being ridden, i was desperate for money and i couldnt afford the agistment for her, we put her bak in the sales and the same man bought her for $125, and that how much we got in return for 2.500 dollars i was very upset but she is at a very nice arabian stud now
Endurance riding in the UK? I'm currently studying Horse Management and have spent the past 6 years riding mostly warmbloods and competing in show jumping and dressage. I share my horse with my mum which we have just sold as she now is looking for something smaller and more for myself so i can have some fun competing as the horse we've just sold was 16.2hh and a 6yo. I'm only 5"1 and he was well suited for eventing/hunting which i'm not all that interested in, so i've not done as much as what i want. I'm wanting to do some endurance as it i think i'd enjoy it, but where does this take place? and how do i get involved? Also we have not yet found a horse, i still want something i can compete in dressage, but also i want it to be brilliant to hack and begin endurance riding. I ride a 14.3hh arab at college that i adore, but allot of arabs for sale seem to be very young and i do not yet have the experience to bring one on, nor does my mum want to have another youngster. I wouldn't mind if it can Jump a small fence now and then for fun, but i'd also like to know of any good sites that sell allot of arabian horses? I live in Leicestershire, so not sure how close by i can compete in endurance as the yard i keep my horses on everyone does mostly eventing so they do not know either. And lastly any info on endurance would be great, Thanks in advance :)
horse help!!!? Ok, here it goes. My mom and dad said we have to sell my horse. He is an arabian show horse, and he keeps having hock joint trouble and is getting too expensive. I REALLY want to keep him, but we can't. Also, my brother's hobby is baseball, and it isn't expensive, so he still gets to do what he wants, but I don't. It's not fair! My parents said we could possibly get some goats or miniature horses in our backyard (we have 5 acres in the country), but I'm not completely sure if we're going to sell my horse, or not, or whether we can even get any other animals, so I don't think I should look for any animals for sale. What should I do? :( and I can't really get a job; I'm only 12. also, it isn't just the fact that he has sore hocks. we can't afford the arab shows, which are VERY expensive. and we can't just keep him as a backyard pet, because he's a national champion arab and deserves to be shown. help!

guess what/////Arabian horses needing rescue? The owner of the 30 dead horses in Alberta will receive proceeds from the sale of the surviving horses after the spca recovers their costs. Guess what--he will then be able to pay his fines. Have you ever heard anything so stupid???The breeder's name is Hinz-Schleuter Arabians. The auction is in Clyde, Alberta north of Edmonton on Thursday March 13th. They also found dead rabbits, goats and sheep as well as the 100 remaining hungry horses. Look on the internet under "horses die in Alberta" Thank you. As of today the horses in Alberta are not going to Auction but to a farm to be properly cared for until homes can be found. Thank you for your interst.
Horse Pedigree can anyone help? I bought a Half-Arabian at the horse sale 2 months ago his dam was an unregistered horse however his sire was Klassic Fortune does anyone know how to find out if Klassic Fortune links back to khemosabi? my horses name on his papers is Klassic Gold Mahio he is registered through the arabian horse association
Horse breed question? I'm confused with horse breeds, what is a thoroughbred and warmblood etc. cause i was looking through a horse sale magazine and saw that in the stock horse section there was an arabian in there but i thought that arabian was different from a stock horse. can someone please fill me in. and what is hotblood, warmblood ad coldblood, i looked on the internet and read that hot is like race horses and cold are draft horses and warm is like an allrounder. That might sound all confusing because i don't know what i'm talking about so can someone please fill me in on all the horse breeds as much as possible.
How tall do you think she is? http://www.horsedeals.com.au/horses-for-sale.php?horseTypes_id=17&subType=&horsePrice1=&horsePrice2=1000&horseHeight1=&horseHeight2=&horseAge1=&horseAge2=&location=VIC&horseDesc=pure+arabian+mare&doSrch=doSrch&page=1&srchStat=Y&catFlag=Y&withPreviews=&refNo=&sold=&createdById= Look at the white horse and can u please ell me how tall you think it is thankyou

Sport Horse Enthusiasts please respond? I have a PB Sweepstakes Arabian horse that I originally purchased to do WP and did so w/out a trainer or knowledge (at the time) of what I should be looking for. I now have a trainer and he has been working with my guy to figure out what he is best suited for and it is not WP. My guy really enjoys moving forward, including jumping and likely to include eventing. He has not been shown in these disciplines as I do not ride that discipline. I would like peoples' opinion from those of you in the SportHorse world to give me your thoughts on his abilities to compete in this discipline. http://arabiandesire.com/sales.aspx If I end up selling him, he will only be sold as a show horse. Sporthorse doesn't necessarily equal dressage. He does fabulous sidepassing but don't currently have it on video unfortunately. I would consider leasing him so long as he stays at my trainers' barn. He's between 14.3 and 15HH. He has jumped 2'6" w/a box of flowers with ears forward and eagerness to do the job! I have more pictures, email me at info@arabiandesire.com if interested. I'm certain he can go much higher than 2'6", but he has not been asked do any higher than that currently. Thank you for your comments. I will only sell him to an approved home. I am currently looking to buy a junior PB arabian WP horse and just want to be sure my guy finds a home where he has a job he enjoys.
Pregnant Mare Question? I got my 10 yr old Arabian/QH mare from my sister on May 13th this year. My sister had bought her from a horse sale. Turned out she was pregnant. At what month should I be able to see the baby kick and at what month does the belly start to get big in the pregnancy? I noticed her belly getting bigger in the middle of August. Craig...its not like I asked for this...I have read up a lot on it but can't find much about movement in the mares belly...I do know foals are a lot of work...lol...I have a orphan foal that I have been raising since he was a week old...I was just asking a simple question about movement...not coming here to be told foals are for the uninformed...thanks for nothing Craig..enjoy your two points... lol...Lyndsay...I never said anything about her going into labor...I asked about simple movement...I know the signs of labor...she's not even close... I live in NW south dakota...we are currently building a barn as I wouldn't put a blanket on the foal or mother...too many risks of the foal getting tangled up...we are stocking up on lots of straw though and a heat light for her stall. thank you Stripey Cat...I appreciate you answering the actual question...lol. You are right, it was getting irritating...thank for the info too...I can't wait...=)
What do you think of this arabian mare? I'm looking to buy an arab mare to possibly breed and use for dressage and/or low level eventing. My first horse was a straight egyptian arab and I fell in love with the breed. I currently don't have any horses, but am an experienced horse woman and am looking to get back into riding and showing, and finally have one of my own again. I am small (only 5'3") so I don't look too rediculous on arabs, although last year I was riding a 17 hand TB (that looked a bit rediculous) :<) Just your thoughts on her.... See here here: http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-211305 And her sellers web page here: http://www.arabhorse.com/mountainview/sales/index.html (9th one down, gray mare) Her sire: http://www.crfegypt.com/Gatsby.htm Video of her sire: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=46142101 Her dam (the chestnut mare at the bottom of the page): http://www.deertreesarabians.com/about/index.html
Is this a good thought? To cut down show fees, I know how to band a horse's mane and I can easily learn how to clip a horse. So those two costs are cut. I think buying clippers would be for the cost of 2 clippings, so it'll pay itself off. There's no way to go about hauling fees, so that'll be the same. By the way, I'm with a barn so they'll be hauling so it's cheaper but still like $100 or so. I go to local shows a lot just to watch, and I've noticed there are a lot of sales on show clothes. Shirts that are usualy price like $200-$300 are 40% off so they're a lot cheaper. I could definitely poke my nose around there more and find sales on clothes so I'm not paying full price but they're new and in great condition plus fit me! Entry fees in small shows are only $30-$50. Maybe I could stay at smaller shows and not go into higher ones? Would that work? Or is there something in showing where once you start you want to move up? The local Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show costs thousands of dollars just to enter one class! But I think if I stray from those I ought to be safe, right? Stall fees and shavings will be with the barn as well, so I'm not sure of those costs but I'm kind of concerned! Any other tips on cutting costs? I don't plan on showing out of state a lot because of gas, food, hotels, etc. There are plenty of shows here. And I could only show 4 times a year or so so it's not a huge bill. If you can share any other tips or point out other costs or anything that would be awesome!! Thanks in advanced :]

how much sold i sell my horse or? i have a 5 year old arabian gelding for sale. he has been through 1 1/2 years of training and is a very fast learner... his dad is Huckle Berry Bay, and he sold for 100,000 dollars. my horse has no experience with showing yet but he is a great prospect. Im just not sure how much to sell him for! i ride him early every day, and he is very sound and level headed.. how much should i sell him for?? heres a link to a picture of him: http://s245.photobucket.com/albums/gg46/herbie553/?action=view&current=r.jpg it kind of a small picture and hes out grazing un this pic... i hope it helps
Fun Question!! your opinions? So this is kind of a fun question...its like what would you do in this scenario..what would u pay? what would u want to c? it can be completly your opinion. So, last year I got a four year old arabian who was unbroke. I planned to use him as my youth- show horse (im 16 now) and sell him when i go to college. But i fell in love with the little guy and im going to keep him through college and eventually make him a lesson horse. Any ways im REALLY curious of if I did put him for sale what people would think of him and what they would pay?? becasue ive put so much work in him...and I would kind of like to know what he is "worth" okay so here is my "ad" Thee Blaze A Fame- 2004 chestnut arabian gelding. "Fame" is a beautiful 15.1h arabian with impressive bloodlines. His sire "thee Federalli" is a halter champion and pre st. george level dressage. He is full brother to "Thee Desperado" a 10 time national halter winner. Fames dam is also out of the Fame VF lines, including multiple western pleasure champions. Fame is a smart horse with a ton of potential. I have ridden him hunt seat, dressage, trail riding, western pleasure and have shown in halter and w/e showmanship. We have recently started jumping over a foot and he never refuses, and is already doing flying leads. For english he has very forward movemt with a nice headset. He can do a fabouls extended trot for dressage and listens very well to just seat and leg movement. Fame has also placed very well in western pleasure. He has a very nice deep lope that is easy to sit, and is always in the ribbons. Most recently we took a first and second in western pleasure against all quarter horses. He pivots, backs and sidepasses very easily. I have shown him extensivley for over a year in open and national shows in novice. I took him down to the All American Youth Show, and Ohio State Fair where he placed a 7th in english showmanship. This gelding has good barn manners. No biting or kicking. He cross ties, stands for farrier, trailers, bathes, and is UTD on shots. He is not a spooky arabian, he would just need an intermediate to advanced rider who would be confident and patient with him. Dont miss out on this flashy show horse! so that my ad =) he is a really firey chestnut with a BIG white blaze and four white stockings. He is more of a sport horse type of arabian. He is really calm for an arabian and I can walk him over tarps..drape bags over him. ect. Since he was broke a year ago and is only 5 ...he still would need an intermediate rider..but with someone who knows what there doing, fame responds really well to. OKay so what would u pay for this horse? would you be intrested in him? and if anyone wants to make an "ad" for your horse and ill put my opinion =) thnx this is just for fun though so it can b what you would personally pay. also i think it would b cool if anyone wanted to put there own "ad" and we can all give opinions of what we would pay or what we think of eachothers horses =) http://s703.photobucket.com/albums/ww37/barrelbaby14/Fame/?action=view&current=SDC10108.jpg&newest=1 srry this was the only pic of him i have on this computer. this was the first day i ever met him! he has filled out more since this picture..and has a longer tail and mane.
Would you be mad if this was your ex-horse? I'm not going to go into details, but my friend (a teen..and a good rider witch gentle training methods...not a novice little five year old!!!!!) bought this horse a while back. She was an abused, hot, little arabian, and her first horse. it may have been an unwise purchase, but she delt with her VERY well! While she is still green, my bud did lots of careful training with her, and was never hurt or anything. After she was seriously injured, they decided she had to e sold. they returned to her the rescue. She is now for sale again and this is what the rescue said about her: http://www.harmonyhorseworks.com/index.htm I can't BELIEVE her!!!! How rude! She NEVER did ANY of that! she never had any issues with the bit! I know it's not really a question, I just want some input! I'm sorry, I wrote this in a hurry. My friend was injured, the horse was always 100% healthy and safe! I'm quite sure she didn't hurt this horse in any way. No, she's not perfect, but she was under the watchful eye of a trainer 70% of the time, so no real damage was done. I know...isn't she tiny?! She actually almost fully matured now. I don't know how old that picture is, but that really is how she looks! (not a very good pic though, she's really pretty, actually!) She didn't get enough nutrients as a foal, so she's slightly "malformed-ish" however, she's perfectly sound!
Do I deserve a horse? Ok, I understand that I might sound like a brat while saying this. Ok, i'm 15 and have had horses in my backyard my entire life. Me and my sister got into it because my mom had them. We started off jumping and we both had qh horses. mine died in a jumping accident. My sister got another after giving hers away b/c she was getting older. I then got my beatiful arabian that I have now. I have now had her for around 6 years. In this time, my sister has had 5 more horses. I have worked with my mare about 5 years and this last year kidna dropped out b/c i started a very difficult high school and never had time for her. (i rode like just around for fun, but didnt show in any big shows. however i did show her in halter b/c i didn't really have to practice). During this my sister got 1 horse who was sick (but he recovered and we still have him) then she got a mare who was great, but never won. We still have that mare too, then she got a gelding who wasn't fully trained. She ended up not getting along with him, and now he is in training in a different city and for sale. Now she is searching for a horse to take her to nationals even though she just went to regionals for the 1st time. Does this make sense? She has'nt put herself into the horses as much as me. She gets 1 and then doesn't like them so moves on. Might i add that htye are looking at spending 20k and driving all the way north (and we live in texas). I would like to get a new horse for my 16th bday. Juts b/c i would like something a lil fresher. my mare is 18 and has cushings. she is perfectly healthy and beautiful, but i've tried so hard with her for 6 years and we haven't really gotten anywhere. I'm looking at 1 mare and she is only 1500. My mom is saying, "no". However, my sis is getting a 20k horse? Does this make sense? Thx for reading WOAH my horse is no where near to dying. I'm not gna not focus on her. I'm still going to show her, but in halter. Not ride her. I need to think about my life in college .I want to get a horse to take to college b/c she wont be able to go with me. Ok, to abc123. The only reason i'm looking for a new horse is b/c 1. My horse is 18! She is getting up there and I don't want to overwork her b/c she has cushings 2. I'm not going to just ditch her. She is my baby, i'm not bored of her. I'm still going to ride her around and show her in halter. I just want to cut back b/c I don't think her feet'll stand up for riding 3 times a week 3. I want to take my horse to college. I'm not going to be able to take an 21 year old horse with cushings to college Ok, let me add some more. haha. My mare is outside during the day and in during night. Gets grass all the time. I will still love her, show her, and ride her. Just she would not be in training. She would be like trail riding in the pasture and showing in halter. my sister is older which doesn't matter. Trust me, my sister loves her horses. And she connects with them, thats why we have never sold any of them. She is just wanting a horse to take her to nationals which is the reason we never went to a trainer. We always trained our horses our selves and took lessons. We never had a trainer train our horses. We do well in shows, just not national levels.
Do you think papers are really important? For a horse? Like that's the only thing that matters about a horse, because I've heard some people say that a horse isn't worth much if they're crosses or aren't registered. I feel SO different. I have a (pure) Arabian gelding who isn't registered, he's about 11 and he's a really great horse! He's not all the way broke but I can trust him and i know he wouldn't hurt me. I think that personality is what matters in a horse, how they act towards people, etc. I also have a QH cross, 3 year old gelding. he's 3/4 QH, and 1/4 TB, he can't be registered and I don't really know much about his bloodlines, his mother is registered though. I was trying to sell him and I asked people how much I should sell him for and some said he wouldn't be worth much because he was a grade horse. Does everyone feel this way?? I mean I know registering your horse is nice but saying a horse isn't good because they don't have papers or is a cross? Just the other day my grandparents were trying to sell their arabian mare(who is still for sale) she's a purebred, has papers and I guess good bloodlines. Well my grandmother says to the woman "The papers are the most important thing about a horse" and I felt mad at that. I mean, do horses have to be registered to be good? The woman just looked at her in shock and said really? I think it's wrong to say a horse isn't good just because they are not registered. What do you think?? the lady that was interested in the arabian mare just wanted her for trail riding...
Severely underweight horse- diet reccomendations? I have an Arabian (20y/o gelding) coming to my stable tomorrow. He is about 16 hand and weighs approximately 800 pounds now. No health issues other than weight. I have taken this horse in as part of a rescue. So he will be mine and I am responsible for making him as healthy as possible. I have never done anything like this before. My current plan is to put him on a high protein diet. Alfalfa cubes?? Hay-as much as he wants Grain? I need suggestions. Also, if anyone has any name suggestions for this guy, he is a light dapple gray. Very kind personality, a bit scared though. He belonged to a family who couldn't afford to feed him, then to a sale barn, survived a brush with a slaughter house and made his way to a rescue group who contacted me! No one knows his original name- sad, cause he's about 20 years old. FYI- I am a stable owner, I've just never dealt with a horse that is this underweight. I have already called the vet but spoke with someone who was clueless and am awaiting a call back. The vet came.. he said give the horse as much hay as he wants. 1 lb of grain the 1st week and increase each week by a pound. Give the horse 1 pound of alfalfa pellets soaked in water. Also put 1 oz of vegetable oil on grain.
Check out my horse!? This is my 7/8 arabian mare I have for sale. I know, it is a poor quality video, but maybe you'll be able to see her ok. She is 4 years old and 14hh. Can she move or what?!?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIRmFPjiih0 Oh, there is more info about her at www.lonestaracres.com. Let me know what you think of her, is she worth $800? No, she is not broke to ride yet, she will be put under saddle this spring. She has had the feel of an adult's weight on her back though. Oh, and she is double registered, if that changes anything, half arab and pinto. She has some good bloodlines, her mother and her parents (maternal grandparents) are all show winners, Moonshine and Dandelion (grandparents) are both futurity champions. Annie has also won a futurity halter class. If you go to the above listed website and click "horses for sale" there is more info about her and a link to her pedigree.
Already asked this question, but there were no clear answers? I already asked this question, but none of the answers were very clear. I know that know of the shots are really conformation shots, but try to bear with me because they are the best ive got. Try to give clear answers, maybe rate on a scale of 1-10, each horse. I dont want to go to any halter shows (local ones) if i am wasting my time. Please give me some constructive criticism on my horses’ conformation. I’m not just bored like everyone else on here, I am thinking about entering them in halter classes and I really want to know if I’m wasting my or not. I don’t want to do it if it is a waste of time. How do I get this horse to canter slower? I've tried everything: half halting, saying "easy" relaxing in the saddle, putting a western saddle on her, ect. But she's obsessed with going fast. She's a hald arabian, half saddle bred and when she knows she can canter she will bolt off into a hand gallop---maybe even a slow gallop if that. I also have some other things I want to share. I used to lease her. She's the most difficult horse on the farm. There are only maybe three or four people who can ride her on the farm including me. I ride her all the time. But recently the trainer got really upset and is selling her. She's bringing her to a sale in November. There's a show coming up and I want to show her that she's okay to ride. She's gonna go so fast though. In shows she'll gallop around the ring when all we're supposed to do is canter. I'm trying to decide if i should ride my horse that i lease now of show her. She's pretty scary but I love her to death. Her trot is perfect. That's her favorite gate. She refuses to walk but we've been working on that and she's a lot better. Does anyone have any tips? I at least want to try to show her one more time. She doesnt do that bad. I've gotten seccond places in polls and a sixth with her in walk trot canter and then two third places in walk trot. Other times she didnt place because she reared up and i had to drop out and not canter. But otherwise, she's really attatched to me and I'm attatched to her. I've never fallen off of her out of the whole year I've ridden her. I think that may be a sign. And if i show her, how can i get her to canter slower? And do you think i should ride english or western?
Explain "Tracking" to me please.? Last year my cousin ended up with the Arabian gelding I was supposed to get (long story). This is a 7 year old (now) that was starting barrel patterns when he turned 6. He was very well trained. The first time I saw him he was being ridden by an 11 year old girl. He had perfect ground manners and was very affectionate. Great muscle tone since he was in training and being ridden 4-5 days a week. This weekend, I took my trainer (she is looking for a new horse) to see the gelding since he is now up for sale by my my aunt (she was the one who paid for the horse for her son). My trainer had a hard time handling him. His ground manners are totally gone. She watched him from behind and said he did not track well. She also lifted and stretched his right back leg toward the back of his front knee and said he had lost a lot of flex in that leg and she could feel popping in the joint. The leg only lifted about 16 inches off the ground. Due to no riding and being stalled 24/7 for most of the last year, he has no muscle tone now. His feet are in really bad shape now too, due to thrush and not calling the farrier since November. She said a year ago he would have been worth $1000 to $2000 but under their care, he is not worth $250 now. Please explain more to me about tracking and the popping. She thought it could be arthritis or an old injury although we weren't told of one. I asked but I think I did not quite get what she was saying about tracking. On the plus side: for those who supported my decision to refuse to let this same cousin ride the Arabian mares I did buy and then later moved to a different stable to keep him and the family away from them, here's an update. Marli is finishing 30 day professional training in the next week, weather permitting. She is definately an English horse (more responsive then when she is tacked up Western). My trainer is wanting to enter her in some local shows this summer. As of Friday, she jumped for the first time. Saturday also went well for jumping. Lyla will start training when Marli is done and her ground manners have improved greatly over the last few weeks (except for the 1 1/2 weeks of being in season). She hates being crosstied and baths too. Rarely does she go 30 seconds without correction. Yesterday, she stood like a champ, bath and all. She even went to sleep while drying at the crossties. We were all as proud of her as we were of Marli for jumping. Wondering if post-season hormones didn't have a part in helping her be calm. I thought of offering to buy him. My aunt refused due to "he's a barrel horse and needs a very experienced rider." However, it would be better for me to buy him, get his shots up to date, coggins, work on his ground manners and have my trainer work with him. A new home would be better than let them continue to ruin a good horse.
How much is my horse worth (pics)?? I have an Arabian/Hackney/QH mare that I've been thinking of putting up for sale. She's five years old adn 14.3 hands. She's ridden both English and Western. She can be trail ridden by the intermediate rider. She has a nice jog and can also extend into a real 'dressagey' type trot. She has a beautifully comfortable canter. She can bring herself into a headset nicely. She rides in a simple full cheek snaffle. She sensitive to leg pressure. She has been jumped and seems to like it. She has been shown in walk/trot classes and she's awesome! She has great ground manners...lunges, loads, bathes, fly sprays. She does not clip...she's terrified of the clippers...still trying to work on that. She is UPTD on everything. Has really hard feet and she goes barefoot. Here are her pics: She's the little bay-http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff311/rachelromano16/?action=view¤t=P3311499.jpg http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff311/rachelromano16/?action=view¤t=P3311497.jpg http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff311/rachelromano16/?action=view¤t=P3311504.jpg http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff311/rachelromano16/?action=view¤t=pearlwestern.jpg So how much do you think she's worth? I live in NC, US if that makes a difference. Here's a few more photo's from her first show day: http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff311/rachelromano16/?action=view¤t=P3211281.jpg http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff311/rachelromano16/?action=view¤t=P3211282.jpg Her name is Pearl. In the show ring her name is More Precious than Pearl.
